Hard to believe but I used to enjoy mowing the lawn and making the yard look nice - now - it has become work that doesn't matter just some responsibility that has to get done on a long list of responsibilities, none of which seem to matter or noticed unless they don't get done. I just replaced the broken shower head which of course broke yesterday during my shower; showers will be taken today with...out interruption and I guess that is the way it should be.

I used to enjoy a glass of wine and feel a sense of satisfaction in the little victories now I just do the job - now I just drink wine; to every person who ever fought and sacrificed their lives defending our country, and others, and the land on which we live (well kept or unkept) my thanks is not enough but it is all I have and my responsibility to give it and I do - freely!

"Congratulations on earning your degree. But the truth is that the degree alone isn't going to be enough to assure your success in the real world.

In the real world employers don't care much about your degree, your happiness, your income or really much of anything that has to do with you. They care about what you can do for them. And from this point on, that's how you have to think. Businesses exist to be profitable. It is your job to help make them profitable. If you know how to do that, how to be worth more than you cost, then you have value in the workplace. If you don't know how to be worth more than you cost, then employers will pass you over and find someone else.

Look at what it really takes to be successful in the real world.

You have to take responsibility. Your life, your results, your success, happiness, health and prosperity are up to you. When it turns out well, you get the credit and when it doesn't work out the way you wanted it to, you get the blame. It isn't up to anyone else to make sure you are successful, it's always up to you, so be responsible.

Others. Respect your employer enough to be on time and give them your personal best every day because that is what they are paying for. Respect your boss, even when you think he is an idiot because he is still your boss and deserves your respect. Respect your coworkers so they will respect you and your customers because they pay you.

Clear priorities. Your time, your energy and your money will always go to what is important to you. If looking cute is important to you then you will spend all of your money at the mall. If being financially secure is important to you then you will make sure that you save, invest and live on less than you earn.

It's about work and excellence. Regardless of what others may tell you, it's not about your passion -- as I know people who are passionately incompetent. It's not loving what you do or being happy every day. You aren't paid to be happy on the job; you are paid to do your job. Success always comes down to hard work and excellence. And it takes both. Hard work alone won't cut it. I know people who work really hard yet aren't any good at what they do so it doesn't matter. And I know people who are excellent at what they do but they don't work hard enough at it to make any difference.

So work hard and be excellent at what you do. And remember, if any one can do it then anyone can do it."

is it worth being alligned with a party simply to vote in primaries?

Republican primary day in CT I just voted at about 7:30am, I was the second person to vote, the polls opened at 6:00am; this is a very sad state of affairs no matter what your take on the dismal turnout.

Either there are few of less registered Republicans in my district, which I believe to be true, and those that are registered won't vote for whatever their reason. I registered as a Republican to be able to vote on primary election days other than that what is the point of affiliating so specifically and outwardly with a party? Stated affiliation contribute to polls that are taken and thus may have some influence on some voters.

I know CT is blue and that candidates come here for financial support - so many of the evil bankers, owners of the fortune 500 and Hollywood folks live here, that candidates need to show up for their $30,000 per plate fund raisers a couple of times during the election cycle; Democrat as well as Republican, yes Obama does his Greenwich pandering as will Romney and any other candidate running in he future. The bucks do not stop here but many of them begin circulating here; it is a trait of New England just how quietly most of those fund raisers are held.

I consider myself a conservative - I wonder if it worth being alligned with a party simply to vote in primaries especially when my vote matters little to the outcome, but, I find it hard to let go of one of the foundation of this country.

Not Just Another Soldier Comming Home...

I generally keep personal affairs out of print but I am making an exception out of pride and nervousness. My wife has been serving in Afghanistan since last June and will soon be coming home to her U.S. base.

I thank and pray for all of the soldiers who have been her friend and watched her back in a place where the chance of dying is high and daily, nightly, hourly - where burning a book causes murderous behavior - to date at least 30 murders at the hands of misguided radicals.

Manning is a top tier QB and flys under the radar garnering the least amount of attention from the media (he is no anti-hero) not an easy thing to do for a big winner in the big apple - he is too soft spoken and seemingly without the rough edges that gets the attention - he simply plays the game as well as anyone and quietly!

"Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why...... the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I'm A Victim
- Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
