Regular meditation, with its focus on breathing and concentration, can help you take a peaceful break from your hectic, fast-forward life. This ancient Indian tradition eases physical tension and calms the nervous system - providing relief from mental tension and stress. Here's how to start bring calmness and focus to your daily like. You can do this wherever you are. All you need to do is: Sit comfortably either on the floor or in a chair with your head and back straight. Begin with a few deep, cleansing breaths. Close your eyes and slowly breathe, at your own rhythm, through your nose. Aim to focus

Little Things - 10/31/07 01:47 AM
Little Things I was listening to a local Christian music station the other morning. A story came on about a boy who wanted to do BIG things. He didn't want to just help set up chairs or pick up trash or whatever. He wanted to make an impact. He was given something like an "easy button". He pushed it and traveled back in time to a small town and into a small home. There was a girl there getting things ready for a Bible study. He asked what she was doing and she said getting things ready. She asked if he would

California Homebuilders 10-30-07 - 10/31/07 01:44 AM
California Homebuilders release statement in reference to the California fires. 10-30-07 California Building Industry Association released the following statement regarding the Southern California fires and questions they have brought up. "Over the last fifteen years, homebuilders and policy makers have been working together to make communities safer and to protect our most important investment, our homes. As a result, California today has the most stringent fire safety standards in America. For example, state law requires homes within a high-severity fire zone to include roofing materials rated Class A or B, both of which are fire-resistant. Additionally, our industry supported a requirement that a

Success and true wealth,( wealth in all aspects of life), can be measured and duplicated. The "Internal game runs the external game: consciousness drives results." Most tend to think opposite; they think they have to do something different to get different results, but really they have to BE something different. Being is consciousness. " I don't want big muscles." - 10/29/07 09:43 AM
Many people look at weight training as a way to get huge muscles, and it is. However, just because you are using weights, doesn't mean you will bulk up. However, it does mean you will be getting stonger and healthier, if done right. You can not build huge muscles, unless you mean to. So this is something you don't have to worry about. According to the Mayo Clinic, a single set of 12 repetitions with the proper weight can build muscle just as efficiently as three sets of the same exercise using the wrong weight, or being done to quickly and without

Tips to keep you excited about your exercise - 10/29/07 09:24 AM
The following are some tips I have come across for the beginners to advanced exercisers. You are more likely to continue on and not let things stop you, if you change things up a little and it isn't boring. Hope the following list helps you. Enjoy! Choose an activity that's fun. Try different activities so you don't get tired of the same old thing. Go to different places for your jogging, walking, or biking paths to vary your routine. If time is a problem, do several shorter sessions of activity throughout the day, such as three 10-minute walks, just around the block. Look for or

Making your home ready to seel this fall - 10/25/07 02:16 AM
Making Your House Ready To Sell This Fall Don't make a mistake and think people don't buy houses in the fall. They certainly do. In fact, the people that are out are probably more serious then during the spring and summer. If they are out in the colder weather, then they probably want to buy. Let's make sure your house is ready to show and sell them. Some things you can do to make a great first impression. 1) The entrance will invite or turn people away. Clean the front porch and polish the door and door knobs. Replace old door mats. 2) Clean the

Back to the Basics - 10/23/07 10:00 AM
We have all heard the term, "Back to the Basics", but it is so easy to get so busy with day to day stuff that we sometimes forget what they are and why we got into the businesses we are in. Think back to when you were "green" in your field. You only knew what you were told. And to succeed, you did what you were told, and it worked. Then you go along, and start thinking you can do this and that better, and I am sure that you were able to make some better. However, I am also sure

You also, have your dreams and where you want to go, and what to do. The problem is that we don't really answere the question I asked. We may say, "I want to get 10 sales this year, or make 100000 this years, or loose 25 lbs, or go on a cruise. None of these are bad, except for one thing. We said that "I want", not I will

Iam and what I am not - 10/16/07 10:06 AM
This thought came to me this morning. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I posted a blog about the difference between emotions and feelings and how they are not the same. That emotions without thoughts are nothing, but that if you focus on the thoughts and mix them with emotions, this will create feelings inside you and these feelings can lead to action to move you closer towards your dreams and goals. Now, I started thinking about people who say, "I am sick," "I am poor," "I am broke." "I am sad," "I am happy," etc... THis is an

Are there good deals today? - 10/16/07 01:15 AM
Can you get a good deal in today's market? The answer is YES!! That may not come as a surprise, but what may surprise you is that you can also, get a bad deal, even if you paid a low price for it. Let me explain. It is a buyers market. There is large inventory in most markets. This means more houses then buyers. You need to make sure this is the case in your market. Ex. San Francisco is still a seller's market for prime upper-end homes. Just check your area and the type of property you want. You also, need to

Miracle- Chance or directed by higher force - 10/11/07 11:25 PM
I just came across a fantastic story that I had to share. I want you to decide, is this a chance meeting or a higher force directing this event. In Twin Falls, Idaho, a Kirby saleman (I was one and maybe this is one reason I loved this story) was going door to door, trying to sell his vac. He knocked on a door and a man answered. THe man was the same age as he was, 35. When Howard, the vac salesman, talked to Paul, the guy at the door, he was told that Paul couldn't afford a new vac because he

More of my thoughts for 10-11-07 These are just more of the things I have been thinking upon today. Just me thinking out loud. Thank you for allowing me to do this. God bless. I believe in you. You can have and be all that you want, just believe. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Everyday we make decisions based on our thought and beliefs only to find out those thoughts and beliefs are based on past thoughts and experiences. Our market compared to 1997 - 10/10/07 12:54 AM
Our market now compared to 10 years ago You hear a lot of people talking about the market, the foreclosures, the economy, and comparing it to the 90's. Frankly, there is no comparison, at least not in the AV, where we were hit hard before. You may say I don't know what I am talking about. I moved into the valley in 99. I moved here as the market was starting to regain. I knew people who had lost everything, including jobs., homes, cars, etc... There were3725 homeowner who had lost their homes back then, due to foreclosure and walking away. We lost

How you think will effect your sales - 10/10/07 12:44 AM
How you think will effect your sales Have you ever wondered why you and someone else may sell the same services, have the same skills, maybe even be right next to each other, but one of you are doing much better than the other? The reason this happens is because one of you thinks they will be successful. We have all set limits on our sales success. Some feel they can make 50,000 a year, others 100,000, others 500,000, and still others 1,000,000. How do you set these limits on yourself? This is through your thoughts and beliefs. We are what we

Have you made your decision - 10/09/07 10:37 AM
I just came across a little video based on a book from Earl Nigthengale, The Strangest Secret. I haven't had a chance to get this book yet, but I have read other things by him and loved them. I have to go back and read all my old books I got when I was in Amway, and from going to old book stores and seeing what I could find. There is so much wisdom and knowledge in those books, and the funny thing is they very much still apply. Technolgoly may have change, but the way the mind and God works

Playing to Win or Not to Loose - 10/08/07 11:15 PM
Playing to Win or not to loose Are we playing Not to Loose or are we playing to win. If you are playing not to loose, you already have. Playing life this way causes restriction, hesitation, no flow to where you want. Playing to win opens you up to more opportunities. Talk to those who have much more than you. Not to those make 5-10,000 more but who are where you want to be, say making 50-100,000 more. They need to be at least 100% above your income level. You do this and apply what they tell you, you won't be able

Don't tell me you can't do it - 10/08/07 10:51 AM
You ever think, "If only I had this..." or "was that..." or "If I was that person" or "If ..." We all make excuses all the time. We aren't good loloking enough, we aren't smart enough, we aren't strong enough, or whatever it may be. I have made a career of this. Not a good career choice. THe pay is awful and the hours... It is time for us all to look to those who against all odds did great things. Many created things that had never exsisted before and still are. We are great beings, made in God's likeness and

I'm Back - 10/07/07 01:07 AM
I am so excited. I have lost a lot of weight, look pretty good in my clothes again, ( at least not having my clothes bunching up on my rolls). And I have a new listing and am doing an open house tomorrow morning. I am loving life and looking forward to having people come to the open house. I am feeling confident and know that God will supply all the qualified buyers I need. I am going out into the neighborhood in the morning inviting people to it. I did many emails and handed out some flyers already. Let's make

L.O.V.E. - 10/05/07 11:54 PM
L.O.V.E. I went to a funeral today for the father of my broker, Wesley Patterson. He was 95 yrs young. I had only met him a time or two, and so I went, I thought, out of respect and love for the family. We I got to the church, I was moved by how beautifully it was done, and then there was his picture. He made me think of my great grandfather, who died over 10 years ago, and who I got my first tattoo for. I started thinking about how much I missed him and how I wish I could

Just an update. As of this past Wednesday, I had lost 30.5 lbs since July 18th. I am having several clients saying things, besides my new shorts I got, 34 in waist, are starting to get loose. I am excited about getting down to a size 32 in. I am 214.5. I want to get down to 200 and then start building mass muscle. Well, maybe well proportianed muscle. May God bless all of your goals and everything you put your hands to. Peace be yours. Earl The Pearl Sorrells

Effective Realtor - 10/04/07 10:22 PM
What makes a very effective Realtor? The following is a list of things that make some Realtors soar and others fail. If there is anything you would like to add, I would love it. God be with you and bless your steps. Good Being on time for everything. If you say you will be somewhere at a certain time, you better be. If not, it tells the client or anyone else that my time is more important than yours. Or that I'm not a good manager of my time and am careless and irresponsible to even give a call telling you about an

Effective marketing - 10/04/07 10:14 PM
HOW TO BE EFFECTIVE AT MARKETING You first of all, must be offering something of value to others, (you, your time, your money, your skills, whatever it is). You have to be able to explain the benefits of what they will get in exchange for money or whatever. We are giving them something they want more then what they are giving up. We have to build that value so big that they see it and that it really is a win win situation. Find your target audience that is looking for your product or service. Sharing your love and passion about it

Dream - 10/04/07 10:09 PM
Dream You may have asked the following questions or said the following statements. "How do you dream?" "How do you focus on what you really want?" " How do you know if that is what you really want?" "I don't like to dream. Dreaming is a waste of time." Why do we have to ask these questions or feel this way? As children, we loved to dream, to picture what we wanted, ask for what we wanted, visualize playing with it. We had an imagination. As we grow up, after years of others telling us we couldn't have what we wanted, couldn't

lease option vs lease purchase - 10/03/07 12:14 AM
A lease option says that the tenant the option to buy the property at the agreed price and terms, but doesn't require them too. The term of the lease option is usually one or two years. A lease purchase obligates the tenant to buy at the agreed price and terms, within a specified time, usually 12-24 months. If you are the seller doing either one, make sure you get a substantial upfront, nonrefundable option money, 5,10,20k. Be sure the lease agreement very clearly states the option money, usually 1-3 % of the option price, is not refundable. Earl The Pearl Sorrells 661-00-9485 efsorrells@aol.com

Building Permits - 10/02/07 11:59 PM
As many of you know, I am also, in the swimming pool business. We sell inground vinyl liner pools. I have a lot of clients that want to build a pool without permits. I tell them that they are required by law, and that if they ever sell, they could have problems selling; besides the fact they can't add it into the value. We still build them to code, even if not permited. I was reading some of Robert Bruss stuff today. (BTW my condolences and prayers are with his family) He brought up a great point. It use to be

Open house tour - 10/02/07 11:39 PM
I came across a great idea today. Let me know what you think. It is called 15 minute open house tour. The idea is to take buyers through a rapid-fire series of homes. Get a group of 8-10 homes within a mile radius. Hopefully, these are your listings, but if you don't have that many, talk to other Realtors in your office to compile these houses. Have them talk to the sellers and get them involved. Make sure all these homes have something in common like price, size, or location. Start this tour at on of your listings and end up there. Let the

Are you going to be Johnny today? - 10/02/07 10:43 AM
I just watched a very touching and moving story just now. I had heard of it not too long ago, but I just got to see it. I was so touched I was moved to tears and started thinking, "How can I give greater service to my clients in both my job and my career as a Realtor? How can I make sure that people want to deal with me? How can I make sure I get the referrals?" Our service has to be real and come from the heart. We have to give more value then what we recieve. Keep giving it out

Action - 10/02/07 01:52 AM
The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will direct us along the path to its fulfillment. Earl Nightingale You need to build your wants and desires so big, that the HOW doesn't matter. Ask out load, "How can I....?" This will cause your mind to start coming up with creative ideas and solutions. Be open to what your mind is coming up with. Keep your eyes open for the opportunities. You have to think and envision it, but then you have to take action. Be open to
