Oxford and Cambridge have now decided to remove the words CAN'T and IMPOSSIBLE from their dictionary.

Jessica Cox, 25, a girl born without arms, stands inside an aircraft. �The girl from Tucson, Arizona, got the Sport Pilot certificate lately and became the first pilot licensed to fly using only her feet.

Jessica was born without arms, but that has only stopped her from doing one thing: Using the word 'can't.'

Her latest flight into the seemingly impossible is becoming the first pilot licensed to fly using only her feet.

With one foot manning the controls and the other delicately guiding the steering column, Cox soared to achieve a Sport Pilot certificate. Her certificate qualifies her to fly a light-sport aircraft to altitudes of 10,000 feet.

'She's a good pilot. She's rock solid,' said Parrish Traweek, 42, the flying instructor at San Manuel's Ray Blair Airport.

Parrish Traweek runs PC Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Services and has trained many pilots, some of whom didn't come close to Cox's abilities.

'When she came up here driving a car,' Traweek recalled, 'I knew she'd have no problem flying a plane.'

Doctors never learned why she was born without arms, but she figured out early on that she didn't want to use prosthetic devices.

Jessica Cox, 25, earned a license to fly airplanes on October 10, 2008. Jessica also has two black belts in Tae Kwan-Do, a college degree in Psychology, and a thriving career as a motivational speaker. �What doesn't Jessica Cox have? Arms. A bilateral congenital limb deficiency doesn't stop Ms. Cox from achieving and surpassing her goals. From birth on, her feet became her hands. She can drive a car, type 25 words per minute, and fly an airplane using her feet, without any special adaptations. She is the first woman without arms to earn a license to fly. 'I highly encourage people with disabilities to consider flying,' Cox said. 'It helps reverse the stereotype that people with disabilities are powerless into the belief that they are powerful and capable of setting high goals and achieving them. Jessica earned her Sport Pilot certificate after training with Able Flight, a North Carolina flight training company that specializes in helping people with disabilities learn to fly. Ms. Cox won an Able Flight scholarship and was able to train with instructor Parrish Traweek free of charge.

You have a strong influence on the thoughts and behaviors of your employees - probably much stronger than you think. Regardless of what appears on job descriptions or in employee handbooks, your behavior is the real performance standard that team members will follow. They'll rightfully assume that it's okay and appropriate to do whatever you do. Why wouldn't they? So it's critical that you set the proper example and desired tone...that you model the performance and behavior you expect from others. Do otherwise, and you're a hypocrite. Ouch!

There's no rocket science here - it's pretty simple stuff. Just pretend that everyone on your team is from Missouri ("The SHOW ME State"). From conduct to commitment...attendance to attitude...respect to responsibility...work ethic to ethics at work - SHOW your people what you want them to do. Let employees know that, in order to be successful, all they have to do is play a game. The name of that game is...

It seems that as time goes on, we get busier and busier, and we lose ourselves and forget about what is really important in our lives. We get so into the hussle and bussle, and next thing we know, we are in our mid forties or more, and wondering where it all went. Wondering, "what did I accomplish with my life?" When we look back, what do we see? Is there tons of love that we shared in and with others, or is it all a blur filled with some disappointments; but success comes with a price, right?

What is success? I have seen several people get to the end of life, having money, but noone to share it or life with. Being bitter and angry. Than, I have seen others, who maybe didn't have allot of money, but were surrounded by those who loved them, and wanted to listen to all they had to say, to the stories of the past, to the thoughts and words of wisdom they may have.

Money is necessary, but where is our focus? What is important in our lives? Where do we spend our quality time? How are we balancing our lives? How are we spending our lives, and the time we have here, no matter how short or long it may be?

Are things and careers more important then others, and ourselves?

I want to hear what others have to say. Please share what you have found, or if you think I am way off base. What would you change, or do more of? I look forward to all of your posts.

Making a difference in others.

Here is a little movie I just came across. It is a great little thought provoker.

Too many times, in our day to day, we allow life to take our joy away, and then we try to pass that on to others that we have influence over. We allow circumstances to control us, our feelings and how we treat others. We have to decide that, no matter what is going on in our circumstances, we are not going to be controlled by them, but that we are going to control them. We have to look up, and beyond what is going on right now, realizing that if we hang in there and go through these, we will make it to the other side, stronger and wiser. Life is what we make it.

So many times I have looked back and wished I would have gotten into real estate "when the going we great and easy." But, than I look at how many, who got in then, are still around, or should I say, not around. It isn't the easiest money to make now. There is allot of learning and work that is involved. And than I think, "this is the right time, and I am in the right place. This is our time. The more I learn now, the better I will be, the more I can really help my clients through the rough times, and the more equiped I will be when the "good times" roll around again, as real estate does. I wouldn't give up this time.

I didn't know I was going to get into that. Just enjoy the movie. There is something in there that we all can use. Remember, there is always something to learn. None of us can know it all, especially in this business or in working with others. Be blessed.

Happy Father's Day

I just wanted to drop a quick note wishing all you Fathers a Happy Father's Day. What are your plans for this day? How are you going to spend it? What traditions do you have on this day? Who are you going to spend this time with? These are just some questions that come to my mind. I think that it is very important for us to spend as much time with our family as possible. Afterall, if it wasn't for your wife and children, you wouldn't be a father.

I see allot of father's who want to be served on this day and have everyone leave them alone. I think it would be better to go do something together, and show them that you are happy that you are able to be their father.

I just thought I would share. I will be working on my job, and then putting up a sign after that. But, I will enjoy dinner with my family and some quiet time after that, with them.

What is up with everyones pics?

Today there is something wired going on with Active Rain. I first noticed that my blogs didn't have my pic on them. Then I went to a couple of other peoples blogs and saw no pics. Just now, I went to check ranking and saw many people without pics. What is going on? Today is feeling like a very wired day. Help me Calgon. Take me away. lol. Hope it gets fixed soon. I didn't not want to grow up to be a red X.

Finding Joy

I just came across this short movie. I think you all will like and appreciate it.

Where do we try to find our Happiness and Joy? Do we keep busy at work, becoming a work aholic? Maybe we bury ourselves in tons of busy ativities, like sports, hobbies, travel, ect... Maybe we just go into our room and become emerced in the TV. Our maybe, we are just so busy that we never take time to look for these.

Sometimes we need to get away from the hustle and bussle, away from the job, and just get reaquainted with our spouce, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. It would be great to get reaquainted with ourselves, and remember why we do what we do.

Stop looking to things and activities for joy and happiness, and look in and up. We were created to have joy in life and help bring joy to others. Enjoy this movie.

Even in a down market, someone like me can get a client, show them a few houses, have them fall in love with one, get them qualified in an hour, and now prepare to put in an offer. There is still life in the marketplace!

I have a friend from school, who she and her fiancee, want to buy. She emailed me about helping them move to my area. We were able to hook up yesterday, and the rest is history.

I am so excited!!! I just had to share and tell others that if it can happen for me, it will happen for you. Just keep on keeping on. Don't give up. We had 33 houses close yesterday, and 45 went pending. There is allot of activity starting again. I believe!!!

10 excuses people give for not recognizing others

1. I do not know how to rocognize others. The truth is, you have to start somewhere. Even if you mess up giving it, who cares, you tried.

2. I am too busy. We are all busy, but we seem to find time to do what is important to us. Maybe we need to adjust our priorities and move recognition up on our list. And, let's be honest, how long does it take to make a little note, or even just to say, "Thank you." or "I really appreciate you doing that?"

3. No one cares about recognition anymore, they just want to make money. We know this is a lie. Think about how we feel when others recognize our efforts and hard work. People like having their egos stroked and being made to feel important.

4. Only boses are to give rocognition. WRONG! It is up to each of us. Don't we feel good when we work in an environment of supportive co workers? If we want that environment, it is up to each of us to help create that.

5. Why should I reward someone for doing what they are paid to do? Remember we are not talking rewarding someone, we are talking about showing respect, recognition, and acknowleging a job well done. When we do this we are reinforcing that they are doing the right things, and that we appreciate them being there and doing their job the right way. Let them know that they are helping make your job easier. People like knowing that they are a part of the team. Besides what does it hurt to buy them a sandwich from time to time to show that we care about them.

6. If I do it all the time, then it doesn't mean much. This may be true sometimes, but do you know how many "Thank you's" or "Good job's" that would take? Besides, if we are being sincere when we say it, that will come through loud and clear, just like if we are just saying words, but not being sincere. People love being where they are truly wanted and appreciated.

7. What can I do? I am a nobody at work. I have seen people who were the lowest employees in a company, telling the high ups how much they appreciated them and the job they were doing. When someone, no matter who it is, tells you they appreciate you and what you do, you feel good, and want to share that feeling with others. It reminds me of a commercial I have seen, where one person holds a door open for someone. That someone, in turn, does something nice for someone else, and so on, and so on. It all can start from a kind word or smile or nod. We have no idea how much we can impact someone else by our great attitude. The same is true with our lousey attitude. It is our decision, "How am I going to affect someone elses world today?"

8. But I feel awkward and I am not comfortable doing it. So what. Everything thing we do in life, for the first time was difficult, awkward and uncomfortable, but we moved through it. The more we did it the easier it has become. If recognizing others isn't comfortable, we need to practice it more and more. Again, people like being around people who appreciate them.

9. I don't want other to think that they have made it and stop working. This is ridiculious. Do we slow down when we have others appreciate us and make us feel like a viable member of the team? Some people may slow down, but most will work harder than before. I have seen this in my own life. We have more affect on the job others do, than we realize. We really can set the tone for our workplace.

10. No one is giving me any recognition, so why should I give it to anyone else? No one cares what I do, so why should I? Get your eyes off of yourself for a minute, and look at others. This reminds me of a sceene from "What Women Want." It is a sceene where there is a girl who is a nobody in the office. She works hard, but is basically invisible. People just walk on by her. She is thinking about suicide and that noone would even miss her when she is gone. She drops some books, and Mel Gibson helps her pick them up. She is overwhelmed that someone, especially him, would help her. (It did help that Mel could hear her thoughts). We may not be able to hear others thoughts, but we all feel basically the same way. Maybe we are a strong person who doesn't need to be recognized by others, but most aren't. Think about how we could change someone day or life. Besides, we all know how it feels when we are taken advantage of or for granted. Just because we have been wronged, don't let us rationialize why we can do it to others.

It is time for us to be standup people and start showing others that we care about them and the job they do. Smile at someone today. Say good morning or Hi to others. Go the extra mile. You will be glad you did.

I am proud that our fathers were willing to give there all for us to have the freedoms that we do. What if your home isn't sell?

In today's market, homes are taking longer to sell. There is a large inventory in all price ranges. Buyers have a much larger selection of homes, from new and resale, to pick from. This is expected to continue through 2008 and into 2009. Also, you have allot of foreclosures and bank owned homes to compete with. If this is the case, what options do sellers have, if their homes aren't selling quickly?

One of the main reasons that homes aren't moving fast is that the home is priced too high for today's market. Our median sales price was down 8.2 % from a year ago, nationally. In some areas of the country, it was even higher.

If your home isn't selling, look at the price you are asking. Have your real estate agent do a market analaisis, called CMA, and see what is selling, what is pending, what is just sitting, what other prices are, and what has expired- meaning what didn't sell. Your home may be nicer than some, and your Realtor will help determine that. If it comes to a price thing, adjust it before it is too late, and you have to take even less to sell.

If you aren't able to accept an offer of a reasonable price, in today's market, and can afford to hold onto your home, than take it off the market and wait for the market to come back up. A home just sitting on the market doesn't do anyone any good. The longer a home is on the market, the less desirable your home can look to potential buyers. They may wonder what is wrong with it, and try to offer less.

With some homes, price isn't the only issue. Some may need some minor facelifts or cosmetic things done, to make it more salable. If this is the case, maybe you showed take it off the market, get the changes done, and than put it back on. This can bring new interest to the property. And maybe a new price would be good to do at this time.

Maybe you may need to rent out your home, temporiarly. Make sure you talk to your tax person, before you do this. Personal resdences and rental property have different tax laws and could affect tax benefits and whether or not you have to pay taxes when you sell. Also, selling a property with a tenant, can have it's own problems. And you will now have to be a landlord, with all that comes with it. Way your options carefully, before you make any moves in this direction.
