When we are working with Asian buyers or sellers, we are very aware of different etiquette when it comes to conduct business and also socially when we are out entertaining them.   Here are some tips when it comes to dining with Asian clients:
- If you are invited to eat dinner or lunch, and you arrive to the table early, always allow others to sit first before you select your seat. Especially if there are other elderly around, you must always let the eldest … (7 comments)

asian buyers: How to Impress your Asian clients at restaurants - 04/19/10 06:57 PM
We work with many Asian buyers and investors, often after appointments, we will go out have meals with them, and unlike American culture, there is some Chinese dining etiquette that I think that you may want to know so you can impressed with your Chinese or Asian buyers next time you are out dining with them.

At Chinese meal times, Chinese people use a round or square table. Person of the most importance would usually take the seat the farthest away from the door whilst the youngest or the person of the least importance would take the seat closest to the door.
However, if … (8 comments)

asian buyers: Chinese Buyers Loves Gold Fish: "Gold and Abundance" - 06/05/09 09:34 PM
Chinese GoldFish: Animal means abundance of gold, making the Goldfish a popular symbol in the Chinese culture.
One of the most popular New Year's images is a child holding a large goldfish and a lotus flower which brings both wealth and harmony. A Goldfish embroidered on a bag or shirt is a sure-fire way to bring the energy of abundance into your life.

The Chinese words for goldfish are identical with the two words meaning "Gold and Abundance" therefore many Chinese keep goldfish at there homes or in ponds in temple gardens.

Another Active Rain member Rita Fong wrote a great story about some Asian (Chinese) buyer's preference. Since I also work with many Asian buyers, I thought this may be a good story for those have Asian buyers to read and perhaps understand the culture difference.
I won't buy anything but facing the East.......  (Members Only)  It is funny to think about it now, but it was sure frustrated then.  It was my 1st year in real estate, actually the 5th month after I became a realtor.  I have an Oriental couple relocated from Olive Branch, MS, young couple, they were tansferring their … (13 comments)

asian buyers: Working with Asian American Clients Tips! - 03/30/09 09:58 AM
Asian Americans or Asian from Overseas represent 80% of my business.
Out of those 80%, 50% are of my business are from listings, and the other 50% are from buyers.
Being the first generation Asian American growing up watching my mother as an hard bargainer, bargain on simple daily life merchandises to Real Estate properties, I learn from the best! I was taught to be frugal, not to waste any food, energy, unused napkins, goods, and always be conservative with my spending. My upbringing has benefit me more ways than one, and it is no wonder today that I can relate … (10 comments)

asian buyers: 8 Tips to work with Asian buyer or seller clients! - 02/07/09 07:27 PM
Inspired by Sonny Kwan's blog "Top Ten Supertstitions when Working with Asian Buyers" I thought I elaborate on how to work with foreign buyers especially Asian buyers for those who may have Asian buyers or seller clients.
1) Always be on time. I know, this is fundamental of a professional behavior, but sometimes it is much more disrepectful for foreigners than Americans to be late, they look down upon our generous 15 minutes grace period when we may think it is ok.
2) Always look at the clients IN THE EYES. Another fundamental which many people do not follow. You shake hands, you … (14 comments)
