barkley village: Barkley Area Housing Market, Bellingham, WA - 02/15/09 02:42 PM
The year ended on the down side...no surprise there! Our local sales volume is still down. No question about it! On average about 30% down from this time last year. Barkley area has a historically low inventory right now. With 109 homes sold in the last 6 months and only 69 homes on the market, one would think it was a sellers market in the Barkley area! However, already this month things are picking up! Buyers are coming off the fences. Low rates, tax incentives, great prices...the perfect storm for buying real estate! If you are thinking about selling, and your home value (1 comments)
barkley village: Scotty Browns Social House in Barkley Villiage, Bellingham WA - 02/15/09 02:36 PM
Scotty Browns, which has already been shortened to Scotty B's by the locals, is the newest dining choice in the Barkley area. There have been reviews ranging from "fabulous" to "okay." I do know that one of the day time cooks is absolutely fantastic! Ty Cook. Yes, one of my many sons! And with a last name like that you have to be good! Scotty Browns is a Canadian chain. Our Barkley location is their first venture across the border. Brilliant move I predict. With big screen TVs, a bar and bar tenders johnny on the spot, you can only imagine (0 comments)

barkley village: Bellingham Neighborhood Infill, Bellingham WA - 05/14/08 01:29 PM
I am participating in the Bellingham City Planning Academy. This 4 week workshop is discussing the housing options that will be made available to builders to "infill" our neighborhoods. This has been very interesting. Infill is State mandated. It isn't a question of whether we want to have more homes in our neighborhoods. It is a law that we must. So let's get over the no-growth "thing" and work to fulfill our commitment to grow...thoughtfully. With very little exception the proposed housing options will make great additions to our neighborhoods. Cottage housing is my favorite. Small homes built in a small community (0 comments)
barkley village: Friends are Gems...ThemThem...and I don't cook! - 04/05/08 06:24 PM
Some of you know from one of my other blogs that my husband "Cookie" is the "most unfortunate cookie" and is recovering from severe burns on his leg, and subsequent surgery, in bed with his leg up for 2 weeks. Additional background to this ThemThem is that I love to bake and my hubby loves to cook. So he does most of the cooking...did most of the cooking! Well Friday night Tony Branch with Smith Barney of Bellingham came to my door with a box. 3 Full entrees from Easy Entrees! He said it is from everyone at the Barkley Business Association...so (2 comments)
barkley village: Festival Marketing - 09/04/07 02:45 PM
Barkley Neighborhood Festival! Two weeks ago we had the first annual Barkley Neighborhood Festival! It was sponsored by the Barkley Business Association. An event I would suggest all business people jump on board with, or plan for your community. The contacts were great, and it was a fun way to get our names and faces into the neighborhood! We helped raise money for our local Opportunity Council, who helps local children with school supplies. For entertainment we had great local bands, The Motown Cruisers and The Divas. We also enjoyed the Upfront Theatre, an improv company...owned by Ryan Stiles....they were a riot! Our (2 comments)
