Palos Verdes Stables - Things To Do In Palos Verdes - 10/21/10 10:19 PM
Palos Verdes Stables, in Palos Verde Estates, were built in the early 1920's before Palos Verdes Estates became a city. There was a time when children could ride bareback from the stables down to Malaga Cove Plaza to visit Moore's Market, and could even ride down to Torrance Beach. Nowadays riding is limited to several different trails and there are three arenas where riders can practice their skills. Palos Verdes Stables currently has a waiting list for boarding, but Palos Verdes residents are given priority when the stalls become available. Horses are available for lessons and you can contact the stable

Nansen Field, Rolling Hills Estates, is nestled in the midst of neighborhood homes. There you will find a green patch of grass hidden away from the flow of traffic on Hidden Valley Road right off of Palos Verdes Drive North, and a block west of Hawthorne Blvd. Nansen Field has a long history going back to the Vanderlip family era. It was originally set aside for the Norwegian seaman who were on layover waiting for their ships to sail, and became their sports field. The building located on the property was brought overland from Fort MacArthur and became the field's

Identify Former Marineland Attractions - Things To Do In Palos Verdes - 10/11/10 09:30 PM
On my first visit to the completed Terranea Resort on the Palos Verdes Peninsula last year, I thought it would be interesting to figure out where the former Marineland attractions sat in relation to the current Terranea Resort property. As part of the Marineland Reunion at Terranea a few weeks ago, there was a Self-Guided Walk (see below) to do just that. Here is a little history about Marineland. When it opened in 1954, it was the largest oceanarium in the world. Most of the undersea life was displayed in huge tanks. It was home to Corky, Orky and Bubbles, the whale. Marineland

Below are the highlights: - The economy will experience a slow tepid recovery. - Fear and uncertainty are keeping potential buyers out of the market. - Interest rates are

Point Vicente Lighthouse is located on the southern point of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and stands 67 feet tall; it is one of the areas jewels. The lighthouse's beam which marks from a height of 185 feet across the ocean helps navigate the seaman around the rocky schoals which surround the nearby shore. The point was named in 1790 by Captain George Vancouver who was here from England exploring the coast. He named it for his good friend Friar Vincente of the Mission Buenaventura.
