The 45th Annual Palos Verdes Marathon will be held Saturday, May 14, 2010, at 7:30 a.m.  This year the Marathon has moved and the new start and finish is at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes.  Once again you will be able to enjoy the beautiful ocean views, the Palos Verdes Homes and the rolling hills that make up this beautiful Peninsula. According to the official website, the Palos Verdes Marathon is the second longest continuously running Marathon in the United States, second only to the Boston Marathon.  Palos Verdes Marathon is actually a qualifying marathon for the Boston Marathon.  Pretty cool, don’t you think?

Once again the City of Rancho Palos Verdes will be sponsoring the Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza at the Ladera Linda Community Center.  This is a fun event where children from 1-8 years can join Mr. Rabbit and find themselves a basket of Easter eggs. This event will be held on Saturday, April 23rd from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The fee is $10 per child and there will be a limited number of participants.  The pre-registration deadline is April 8th and the registration form needs to be mailed in.  This event usually sells out. When many of us hear the name Chandler we immediately think of the sand and gravel pit in Rolling Hills Estates.  Linden H. Chandler, was the original owner; he moved here from Colorado when he was 9 and became an influential figure during the early growth of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.  Chandler was an active member of Los Rancheros Vistadores and rode in many Rose Parades.  Perhaps this is why he so clearly wanted  to see the land in this area preserved for horseback riding and hikers.  The Linden H. The Neighborhood Church will present its 57th Annual Christmas Pagaent on Sunday, December 12th, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.  The prelude is set in the sanctuary of this beautiful church which overlooks the ocean.  The Covenant Handbell Choir and the Neighborhood Brass Rings will perform followed by a short service and the singing of Christmas Carols.  Then you walk through the church's cliff-side grounds and witness living tableaux depicting scenes from the Christmas story.
