rebarcamprdu: Some Things I Hope We Talk About At REBCRDU - 09/07/11 05:13 AM
The Real Estate BarCamps around the country have been going on for several years, in fact the third REBarCamp will be in Raleigh on October 21st.  We have a habit of asking folks what they want to talk about prior to Camp - to kind of get the "juices going" and to be sure everybody has a voice.
At the recent REBarCamp in Pheonix, they judged the top 5 topics to be :
101 Begininer Sessions (5 Sites you need to be on, Facebook Marketing Pages v Profiles) Mobile Applications iOS and Android Producing Great Video on a Budget  Outsourcing - … (5 comments)

rebarcamprdu: REBar Camp RDU - The BEST One EVER! - 09/13/10 06:38 AM

We really appreciated all of the help from our ActiveRain Family!  Debe Maxwell, Margaret Woda, Pat Kennedy, Penny Hull, David Patterson  and I all lead sessions!  One of my favorite sessions was with Craig Rutman, Penny, Amy Hahn, Pamela St. Peter, Tracy Santrock and David Patterson discussing their various strategies and what is working for them!  It was an awesome day! 8o))

rebarcamprdu: Tips For Organizing a REBarCamp - 09/13/10 04:24 AM
We had 305 people at our 2nd REBarCamp in Raleigh last Friday... and as promised to several people, here's my list of things to DO when you are organizing a Camp, and some suggestions on what to AVOID.
The camps I've been to, and the ones I've monitored, talked to others about, have 75 people.  The coordination, and budget for a camp THAT size, is substantially different from one three times larger.  Without the Carolina Blog Brawl Challenge, our budget was over $10,000 - with it, we were significantly higher.
We held our Camp at our Board Office, and they charged us for clean up, … (30 comments)

rebarcamprdu: Something You Should Know About Me and GRITS! - 08/24/10 02:26 AM
On several of my profiles, it says "GRITS" - and if you know me, you know I'm a Girl Raised In The South... but there's more to that expression, and I thought I should share THAT part of GRIT with you.
The Conditioning Coach at UVa was quoted recently as he spoke about his freshmen:
“That’s been a pleasure for me. Each day they’ve come in and busted their butts in an attempt to get better. That’s been a breath of fresh air as opposed to what we saw from a general sense last year...
You know, the culture is changing. … (7 comments)

rebarcamprdu: Facebook Security Settings for Geo Check In - 08/20/10 03:07 AM
There are several interesting conversations going on about the value, use and implications of the newest Facebook Feature - Places.  This is a geo-location tool (think Four Square, Tri Out, or the Geo Locator on Twitter), and with all things Facebook... you probably want to see how your security settings can be changed based upon what you want folks to see.
With Places, YOU can share where you are... but did you know that your FRIENDS could check you into a place too? I'm not always sure I WANT someone else to do that... and if you are in that boat … (5 comments)

rebarcamprdu: Cash, Fame, Prizes We Have It All Carolina RE Blog Brawl #REBCRDU - 08/04/10 07:57 AM

We wanted to showcase some of the GREAT Bloggers we have coming to REBarCampRDU this year so we are starting the FIRST Carolina Real Estate Blog Brawl!  In Southern Tradition we expect some "jawin'" from the folks who are entered - but we think it will be a ton of fun!
We will pair 16 Blogs off in NCAA Fashion (Hey we are the home of State, Carolina and Duke), and then each week for the next 4 weeks leading up to Camp we will be voting on the best Real Estate Blog.
AND YOU CAN VOTE TOO!
The "rules" … (15 comments)

rebarcamprdu: How to Set Up a List on Twitter #REBCRDU - 07/28/10 09:16 AM
We are setting up #REBCRDU for September 10 in Raleigh, and as part of the event we wanted to give folks some ideas about who will be coming to REBarCamp in Raleigh - and help them get involved in the conversation on Twitter.
We try to follow everyone who signs up and tells us that they have a Twitter Account.  We also try to send out a Tweet thanking them for registering, and we try to add them to the REBCRDU2010 list.
Did you know you can follow a LIST?  When you are logged into Twitter, you can click "Follow"

rebarcamprdu: It's Back! REBarCampRDU 2010 - 07/14/10 11:24 AM
In the first 10 days of having registration open... we will have at least 100 people registered!  We are also going to hold the very first Carolina Real Estate Blog Brawl contest!  We are so fortunate to have so many great bloggers in North Carolina, like Penny Hull with Stanton Homes, who are willing to share!  It's going to be a great event! (If you want to attend, register early - we sold out last year!)

REBarCampRDU is Coming....Back! I'm so excited...I've never learned more in one place than I did here last year.

rebarcamprdu: Techno Babble "Cheat Sheet" for Social Media Beginners - 10/16/09 02:32 PM
I taught a class yesterday for folks who are basically new to Social Media, and one of the things that struck me is their need to understand the LANGUAGE of Social Media.
It's hard to be part of a conversation, if you don't understand half of the words that people are talking about!  As I think back to my initial immersion into this "stuff," I know my husband thought I was having an affair because I was spending so much time with my Laptop! LOL! All I was trying to do was figure out what people were talking about!
I am … (13 comments)

rebarcamprdu: Olympians at REBarCamp Are you Prepared to Win? - 10/03/09 01:34 AM
I've been reading about the Obama's bid to host the Olympics in Chicago and although they didn't win, it made me think about hosting a World Class Event like that in your city.  How exciting would that be?
And what about the Athletes?  What compels someone to love their sport so much that they are willing to compete at that level as an Amateur?
An amateur is generally considered a person attached to a particular pursuit, study, or science, without formal training or pay.
John Naber, an Olympic Gold Medalist in Swimming was interviewed and asked about the responsibility Gold Medalist have...

rebarcamprdu: RE BarCamp - What's THAT Got to do with Real Estate?!? - 09/17/09 08:33 AM
I am fortunate to live in an area that creates a Triangle between NC State University, Duke, and UNC Chapel Hill (Go Pack!).  Right in the "heart" of that Triangle is a Research Park, with HUNDREDS of high tech companies, including RedHat!  We have "tweet ups" here with over 200 people on a regular basis, and a couple of nights ago, over 200 people who are "LinkedIn" met at the Lincoln Theater!
Bottomline, there have been BarCamps, WordCamps (I want to go to the next one 8o), CodeCamps in this part of North Carolina for YEARS!
NOW... we're having a Real Estate BarCamp, and … (14 comments)
