Todd Carpenter sent an update out today about REBarCamps. It made me think about how many I've been to... and how few BICs Ive seen at them! Mortgage Leaders and Real Estate Leaders who are NOT connected and don't get it are going to be left further and further behind in 2011. That's my Prediction!
Real Estate Brokerage Giants are teaching classes, opening their databases up for solicitations from Social Media companies and insisting that agents get “up to date” on the latest and greatest Social Networking Trends… but are “THEY walking the walk?” What I’m getting at is (4 comments)
social media: Old School Advice on Getting The Attention You Deserve
- 12/03/10 05:35 AM
This is really good for people who are just kinda' starting out and want to get more people to notice their hard work! I really like the Bad Example and the Good Example of "Friends Don't Let Friends Pay 6%" Many of us have “Old School” advice drilled into us from Real Estate Agents of “yesterday” who “ALWAYS” did something besides blogging and tweeting and updating to get business. Personally, it’s easy for my eyes to glaze over when that conversation starts. BUT, there’s some WISDOM in those “Old School” suggestions when it comes to writing Headlines for your posts and updates! (1 comments)
social media: Geo Tagging - Not Sure I Get It
- 06/20/10 02:02 AM
I have friends all over - and one of the things I'm finding very interesting is how many people ARE Geo-tagging everything... and how many people just AREN'T. I mean - seriously... have you seen someone in NC posting that they are "checking in" at a listing? Well folks in Colorado are! One friend recently said, " and have you seen where (so and so) has been lately? They must be gaining 50 pounds! I mean it's Biscutville, Bojangles, Krispy Kreme... OMG!" So is it because it's a GAME, and you get BADGES? Or is there some Social "nod" associated with (57 comments)
social media: NEW Video Social Media and Return on Investment (ROI)
- 11/23/09 11:14 PM
So I changed companies / jobs the same week as REBCRDU, and I've been BOOKED this month! Business is good - which is GREAT... but I've kinda' felt like I was working from under this huge ROCK of pressure trying to get everything online moved over, understand new systems... you get it. ANYWAY, one of my friends, Jim Tobin, highlighted this - and I think it's pretty darn cool (found it in my FriendFeed - LOVE THAT!)! Enjoy!

social media: Techno Babble "Cheat Sheet" for Social Media Beginners
- 10/16/09 02:32 PM
I taught a class yesterday for folks who are basically new to Social Media, and one of the things that struck me is their need to understand the LANGUAGE of Social Media. It's hard to be part of a conversation, if you don't understand half of the words that people are talking about! As I think back to my initial immersion into this "stuff," I know my husband thought I was having an affair because I was spending so much time with my Laptop! LOL! All I was trying to do was figure out what people were talking about! I am (13 comments)
social media: Social Media Is A Cocktain Party, Bookworm MeMe
- 11/25/08 12:30 AM
I've done several MeMe's - but the one Linda asked me to do is the EASIEST (and the best since I told Jim Tobin I loved the book and wanted to share info about it!)!! Okay - so the rules of the MeMe are to grab the CLOSEST book to you, turn to page 56 and write what's on the 5th line. You are not suppose to pull out your favorite book, or the newest, or whatever (and not the Bible 8o)) but I've been carrying this book around with me for a WEEK! It's awesome - so here goes: "This (11 comments)
