I find that few real estate agents talk much about how the home buying decision is based on impulse. It's not just true in California where going to open houses on Sunday is akin to a religious experience for some -- home buying is an emotional experience for many buyers. Where we live is very personal. Our homes are more than four walls and a roof. Home is a place where we build memories, share intimacies and grow up to become the obnoxious people everybody knows and loves.

house hunters: House Hunters in Sacramento Day 2: Room Tone, Music to My Ears - 08/07/09 08:35 AM

The order in which we film the show for House Hunters is not necessarily the order in which the homes are viewed on TV. In fact, I have no idea how each of the homes we are filming will appear, whether you'll see home #1 as home #3 or vice versa. But I do believe that viewers will have a difficult time figuring out which home these Natomas buyers actually purchased.

An agent asked me yesterday if it was becoming more prevalent on Sacramento short sales for listing agents and their sellers to expect buyers to submit deposit checks to escrow. She said my active short sale listing was the third home she tried to write an offer on that required a deposit.

I know I said in the past that I would never go on the cable TV show House Hunters, but a few weeks ago I found myself eating those words. Hey, sometimes it happens that we change our minds -- it's a woman's prerogative. After all, I reasoned, I've done a few TV shows, and they are actually kind of fun.
