jawbone: Something Old and Something New - 02/05/12 10:49 AM
I'm not afraid to say it. I hate sports. On the other hand, I love high tech. Today will be all about sports. It's not so much that I hate sports as much as I hate the sound of sports. I don't mind guys running around a field in tight pants that show off their assets. It's the volume of the excitement I find objectionable. Not to mention, I was never that girl in high school who hung around jocks. I was with the guys out back of the coffeehouse passing the bong.
Once as a teenager I attended a football … (5 comments)

jawbone: Sometimes, It's Worth It to Pay a Little Extra - 04/09/11 12:44 PM
Usually when we fly out of the Sacramento airport we park at the economy lot and take the bus to the terminal. This involves planning ahead and allotting enough time for driving up and down the aisles looking for parking spots in the aisles we were told had parking spots and which do not, lugging my suitcase across gravel because we've finally parked on the outskirts somewhere, and then shivering at the bus stop as we wait for the bus that takes forever to arrive.
The economy parking lot at the Sacramento airport is not a pleasant experience. For that reason, … (12 comments)

jawbone: My Mother Used to Say You Sleep in the Bed You Make - 10/09/10 11:05 AM
As I read Alan May's excellent blog, Where Do You Draw the Line, it made me reflect on events from yesterday afternoon. I was at my nail place getting a pedicure when an agent called. I probably should not have answered my phone but I can't help myself. I'm wearing a new type of Jawbone bluetooth device that whispers the phone number of the caller into my ear, which wakes me up from my relaxed state anyway.
The caller appeared quite agitated. I let the agent talk, hoping the agent would calm down as I "ahh'd" and "mmm'd" the conversation, simply … (42 comments)

jawbone: Let's Talk About the New Jawbone and a Pulte Single-Story Short Sale Home in Natomas - 09/14/10 10:23 AM
I'm looking at my notes for this morning -- when you get to be my age you have to write everything down -- and right next to "refill cat's Prozac prescription" is "buy second Jawbone." That's because my Jawbone has been bleeping out on me, some days before lunch. They don't seem to make a Jawbone that will let you talk continuously for 8 hours, hard as that may seem to believe.
I don't know if you've been to the Jawbone website lately, but now the devices each have their own individual name: the Thinker, the Bombshell, the Catch.  I'm surprised … (8 comments)

jawbone: Do Not Toss Your Jawbone Into a Flaming Fire, Unless You've Already Tried That - 03/11/09 08:47 AM
Fed up with my Motorola earpiece, 3 years ago I began investigating new devices and decided the Jawbone headset was most likely the best on the market. I bought a snazzy little red number and have been delighted with it. It truly blocked out noise. I was once standing in the middle of a casino in Reno when an appraiser called me -- bells, chimes, clanging -- and we could both hear each other; the sound was crystal clear. But 3 years is a long time, and Jawbone has made exciting advances. So, I bought new Jawbone yesterday.
The new generation … (20 comments)

jawbone: Even Though I'm Not Going to Be Thinking About Real Estate -- You Know I Will - 12/25/08 06:00 AM
It's raining this morning in Sacramento as I write this, and we're headed out for the airport. I don't know why they have flights this early to LAX. Nobody in their right mind should have to be at the airport before 5 AM. It's such an awful hour.
I've never flown anywhere on Christmas Day before. If I'm lucky, the airport parking lot will be empty, and there will be no long line for security wrapped around the terminal.
At least all my escrows are tidied up and ready to close in my absence. I worked late into last night to … (24 comments)

jawbone: Are You Talking On Your Bluetooth or Are You Simply an Insane Person Who is Talking to Herself? - 11/16/08 09:38 AM

Oh, they may look like sweet little innocents, but that one on the left, that Pia, she chewed through the charger cable for my Jawbone Bluetooth. Every time I plugged it in to my computer, I received an advisory message that said my HUB device was using too much power and would be disconnected. I suspect she chewed right through the wires and crossed them, so no amount of electrical tape is going to fix that.
As a result, I have discovered there is no place in Sacramento to buy a new charger cable without buying a totally new Jawbone. … (24 comments)
