land park real estate: How to Get Top Dollar for that Home in Land Park - 05/28/12 06:31 AM
You want to hear something insane? I ducked into Taylor's Market in Land Park this weekend for a quick stop to buy veggies. I wasn't buying enough stuff to require a cart or a hand-held basket, and I was in a hurry. So, I piled the veggies into my arms, rushed to the cash register to dump them, and the bill rang up to 8 cents shy of $29. What did I buy? 2 pounds of strawberries 20 ounces of lettuce 1/2 pound of mushrooms 12 ounces of tomatoes Granted, the mushrooms were sliced and the lettuce was washed, but geez

land park real estate: Asparagus Ferns and a 1938 Home in Land Park is For Sale at $475,000 - 08/19/11 10:33 AM
My husband has many talents. For instance, he can imitate a cat puking with the best of them. It's one of the reasons I married him. Because he makes me laugh. And you know why cats puke? Well, mine tend to do it because they eat something they should not eat. Twisty ties, creepy-crawly things, rubber bands (or binders as we from the Midwest call them). My cats love to nibble on my asparagus fern. They are obsessed with that plant. They've done it to such an extent that I've finally wised up (duh) and moved the plant outdoors. Did you

land park real estate: Your Cats Would Eat You If You Fell Over and Couldn't Get Up - 06/10/10 10:01 AM
The New York Times says parents who are addicted to technology could be adversely affecting their children. It's parents' constant use of cellphones and instant messaging that can cause children to feel hurt and ignored. The article describes how a boy, 2 1/2 years old, tried to get his mother's attention while she was looking at her BlackBerry. This kid whined, tugged at his mother's leg and, in a moment of final frustration, bit her. It struck home because that's exactly what my cats do when I'm on the computer. My cats start out by meowing at me. Doesn't matter which

land park real estate: Do What You Love, Pay the Price and You'll Always Be Passionate About Your Job - 11/14/09 08:47 AM
I closed a couple more escrows in Sacramento yesterday. One was in Natomas, which was a Wachovia short sale, and I represented the seller. The other was for buyers who had spent a long time looking at homes in Land Park until I suggested they consider a particular home that met their needs. The negotiations for that home were a bit tough because the buyers were not paying anywhere near the list price, and we ran into a snag at closing because the seller could not wire funds to escrow before the buyers' loan lock expired, but we closed on schedule.

land park real estate: Land Park Home to be Featured on H&G TV's HOUSE HUNTERS - 07/20/08 12:47 PM
I know I said in the past that I would never go on the cable TV show House Hunters, but a few weeks ago I found myself eating those words. Hey, sometimes it happens that we change our minds -- it's a woman's prerogative. After all, I reasoned, I've done a few TV shows, and they are actually kind of fun. Besides, I am certain I will most likely bring a warped sense of humor to the show. Mark my words, I will NOT walk into the kitchen waving my arms to pronounce that "This is the kitchen." Besides, the kitchen

land park real estate: Land Park Homes - Photos, Descriptions and Recent Market Values - 07/20/08 08:59 AM
The tree-lined streets of Land Park today rose from their dusty Gold Rush days, founded by names easily recognized in Land Park such as Swanston, Marshall, Cavanaugh, Caruthers, Wright and Kimbrough. Land south of the Zoo was first developed by John Sutter and known as Sutterville. Many landmarks such as the Sutterville Brewery, Riverside Swimming Baths, Edmonds Field and The Land Park Plunge have long ago been demolished. William Land (1837-1911) gave the 166-acre park to the city in 1926. Here are 26 photos of Land Park homes and our surrounding landmarks. All photos: Elizabeth Weintraub

land park real estate: Are You Monitoring Your Web Site for Statistics? - 07/17/08 09:32 AM
I don't care what business you are in -- if you're not online, you're missing the boat. If you're not monitoring your web site, you're also missing the boat. You can sign up for very inexpensive services that will return statistics to you. For example, the service I subscribe to will tell me any number of things, among them: Where my visitors originate -- from what city or state The ISP of my visitors Whether they are a first-time visitor or a return visitor If they are return visitors, the other pages and times they visited What kind of browser they
