land park sacramento: I Would Not Be in Sacramento Without September 11th, 2001 - 09/11/11 10:54 AM
My eyes tear up every time I watch a video or see a picture of the WTC on September 11, 2001. I'm not much different than anybody else in America. That tragic event has affected every single one of us. No one was left untouched. Not one person. I don't care who you are or where you live, September 11th has changed all of us.
I was at the doctor's office the morning of September 11, 2001. I don't listen to the radio, so I didn't know what had happened. Nobody watches TV at the doctor's. The doctor took a blood … (6 comments)

land park sacramento: Asparagus Ferns and a 1938 Home in Land Park is For Sale at $475,000 - 08/19/11 10:33 AM
My husband has many talents. For instance, he can imitate a cat puking with the best of them. It's one of the reasons I married him. Because he makes me laugh. And you know why cats puke? Well, mine tend to do it because they eat something they should not eat. Twisty ties, creepy-crawly things, rubber bands (or binders as we from the Midwest call them).
My cats love to nibble on my asparagus fern. They are obsessed with that plant. They've done it to such an extent that I've finally wised up (duh) and moved the plant outdoors.
Did you … (10 comments)

land park sacramento: Are Men Really From Mars? - 01/14/11 10:05 AM
You know that book Women Are From Venus and Men Are From Mars? The author of that book, btw, John Gray, looks very similar to that creepy guy who was once married to Bree Vandercamp on Desperate Housewives. But with that aside, the Women-Venus, Men-Mars thing has practically become a household phrase, and John Gray has probably made a boatload of money for himself with that catchy term.
He was in the right place at the right time. I remember when his book came out, and some feminists at the time didn't agree with Gray's premise because they somehow thought he … (14 comments)

land park sacramento: How Much More is a Home on the Park in Land Park Worth? - 12/12/10 11:17 AM
I was reading Jim Braun's post this morning about helping out appraisers. He's talking about all those phone calls we as real estate agents get from appraisers asking us about value in certain neighborhoods. As a Land Park agent, I can get my fair share of inquiries from appraisers, especially in Land Park. It's where I live and work.
Some agents don't want to take the time to speak with an appraiser. Their attitude seems to be: What's in it for me? How am I going to make money from this call? I'm not, so I'm not talking to you. And … (6 comments)

land park sacramento: King Tut Isn't the Only Exotic Adventure in Golden Gate Park - 11/22/09 10:04 AM
One of the things I really enjoy about Golden Gate Park is that you see stuff in San Francisco that you'll rarely come across in, say, Land Park in Sacramento. For example, during our six-block stroll from the N Line to the de Young Museum at Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, I spotted guys like those Party Down dudes (love that show), dressed in bow ties and black suits, carefully removing and stacking bottles of champagne from the back of a black sedan.
Across the street, a wedding Limo decorated like Hello Kitty. Then, a nearly naked guy jogging. A Cyndi Lauper … (6 comments)

land park sacramento: Ready For More Photos of the Rock Garden at William Land Park? Check Out Part 2. - 05/29/09 10:19 AM
Usually when I walk along the manicured paths of the WPA Rock Garden in William Land Park, I see very few visitors. It's not crowded. Oh, you might spot a few kids playing hide-and-seek or the lone photographer snapping pictures of flowers, but the Rock Garden in Land Park doesn't have an abundance of people roaming through. I've been there at different times of the day and various days of the week, and it's always quiet.
In fact, I bet a lot of people don't even know it is there. The garden is sort of tucked away behind the pond and … (5 comments)

land park sacramento: A Holiday MeMe Post: Those Who Guess Correctly Get to Write the Next MeMe - 12/01/08 09:38 AM
Here is what Melody Botting has to say on the subject: >>The rules of this MeMe is to ask for one gift you want that doesn't make you sound like you are trying to win a pageant or gain favor with Nelson Mandela.  You have to be completely materialistic then name five more people you would like to torture.
What I would really like is the ass and abs I had not so long ago.  Those can be purchased these days, you know.  My husband thinks it is ridiculous to spend money on those things when you can just simply get off … (13 comments)
