mondavi center: When the Best Laid Plans Go Sideways - 09/18/15 02:05 AM
Most of my days and evenings are filled with thoughts of selling my listings in Sacramento. I'm often glued to the computer for most of the day. The way I can get away with this kind of obsessive behavior is to be extremely organized in other parts of my life to the point where I don't have to really think about anything else except Sacramento real estate.
Of course, there are other things involved in a day such as my husband flying home from a State function in Burbank and expecting me to pick him up at the airport at 6:30, find … (13 comments)

mondavi center: Patti Smith at the Mondavi Center or What the Heck is Wrong With Davis - 05/10/12 12:12 AM
Anybody who knows me at all knows that I am a rebel. I buck the system. That's my nature and I'm unapologetic about it. I own that about myself. I am also a conformist. You have to conform to be a successful Sacramento short sale agent because you need to have systems in place, to do the same things in the same order over and over until it becomes second nature.
Like every morning I write a blog.
Thought I would begin this morning by writing about Patti Smith because we went to Mondavi Center for Arts last night to see … (3 comments)

mondavi center: Review of Guitar Blues at Mondavi Center in Davis That Rocked Jackson Hall - 03/05/09 01:37 AM
Watching the performances of three outstanding musicians at Mondavi Center last night was a little bit like choosing dessert -- I may love creme brulee, cherry cheesecake and Haagen Dazs Rocky Road, but I don't necessarily want all three on my plate at one time. Mondavi presented Guitar Blues, an American Heritage Series event.
First up on the playbill was Ruthie Foster, a dynamite blues and gospel singer / guitarist from Texas. Beautiful, soul-searching vocals, touched by an angel and fuel powered by a rocket engine, Ruthie was the cherry cheesecake, every bite delightful, that if left to my own devices … (9 comments)

mondavi center: Review of the Mavis Staples Concert at Mondavi Center in Davis, CA - 01/18/09 01:02 AM
My husband and I had the pleasure last Wednesday of attending the Mavis Staples show at the Mondavi Center in Davis, California. If you're reading this and you're not from around here -- here being Sacramento -- you are in for a treat if Mavis Staples comes to your town. Some of you of a certain age will remember the Staple Singers from the 1950s and 1960s, and already know what a treasure, a blessed honor it is to hear Mavis belt out her heart. She's part soul (R&B), part rock-and-roll and part gospel. I am particularly attracted to her music … (8 comments)

mondavi center: If You'd Like to Go to a Concert Performed in Another Language, Go See Linda Ronstadt - 10/31/08 05:10 AM
I'm not a huge fan of opera. In fact, strike that, I'm not an opera fan at all, who am I kidding? That's not to say that there's anything wrong with opera or with people who enjoy it. I'm just die hard rock 'n' roll, which has evolved from the 1960s and now includes all sorts of musical classes. When my husband told me that our season tickets for Mondavi included Linda Ronstadt, I was intrigued.
Let me be clear, it wasn't opera. But one of the things I don't like about opera is it's typically performed in another language, so … (21 comments)

mondavi center: Kris Kristofferson in Sacramento -- It's All About Choices - 10/23/08 04:43 AM
Looking through our schedules last month, my husband and I discovered we were holding tickets for two performances on October 22nd. One show was Laurie Anderson's Homeland Tour at the Mondavi Center in Davis. The other was Kris Kristofferson at the Crest Theatre in downtown Sacramento. Between the two, I gravitated toward Laurie Anderson, but the truth is we saw her a couple years ago and, she is performing in Berkeley this Friday.
We were lucky that an associate in my office agreed to take the Mondavi tickets from us, and my husband was able to score tix for the Berkeley … (20 comments)
