sacramento realtor in hawaii: Two More Hawaiian Beaches to Expore - 09/07/18 10:18 AM
Yesterday was my last day in Hawaii for a while. At least until next month, anyway. Usually my last days are spent preparing to depart. Recharging my Ring, which this time I could not get off my gate. Looks like I will have to drill that baby out as the screws are stripped. Such a fine line between "tight" and "never unscrewing again."
I also write a couple of blog posts so I don't have to get out of bed at 3 AM Hawaii time in Sacramento to create my daily stuff. Due to real estate-related work, I didn't get done half … (16 comments)

sacramento realtor in hawaii: The Floral Adventures of Akaka Falls on Big Island - 09/05/18 09:45 AM
After our exhilerating ziplining adventure on Labor Day, we decided to visit Akaka Falls. I suppose it's possible that trip could have been the plan all along but I only first heard of it after the 8 ziplines. Vika said she and Josh missed the falls during their last trip here because it was closed. I rarely turn down an opportunity to visit a state park, even those I've seen before because you always see something new.
Akaka Falls is one of those must-see tourist attractions on Big Island. It features an optional loop trip to see two big waterfalls and a … (3 comments)

sacramento realtor in hawaii: Do Not Wait Forever to Try Ziplining - 09/04/18 10:25 AM
There seemed to always be some sort of reason why I could not go ziplining in the past. Although, whenever I go on vacation, the ziplining places seem to be everywhere. Part of the reason I'd never gone ziplining before was finding a person to do it with. Like, my husband would not want to go ziplining unless I forced him.
On top of that, usually you have to make an appointment. I prefer more spur-of-the-moment activities while on vacation and trying to schedule how I might feel on any given day is difficult.
But Josh and Vika booked this ziplining … (11 comments)

sacramento realtor in hawaii: Story of Christmas With My Neighbors in Kailua-Kona - 12/26/17 09:48 AM
Conversation around the dinner table with my neighbors in Kona was quite entertaining this Christmas. One neighbor is building a Tiny House and plans to travel around the mainland, towing her Tiny House, giving lectures to single women babyboomers about realizing dreams. Talk about life-changing events.
Even though much of our conversation centered on living in Hawaii, why all of us bought homes on the island, and a little bit about my home state of Minnesota (everybody, except my neighbor's sister-in-law, comes from Minnesota, you betcha), we ended the dinner by turning the conversation to real estate. It always ends up being about … (10 comments)

sacramento realtor in hawaii: Come on a Seahorse Farm Tour in Kona - 12/21/16 10:50 AM
We woke up yesterday morning fully intending to take advantage of the break in the rain at our vacation house in Hawaii and drive up to the Mauna Kea Summit. I rented a jeep specifically for this purpose. However, due to all of the unusual amount of rain on Big Island this month, which turns to snow on the mountain, the road was closed.
Never fear. There are plenty of interesting things to do in Kona. Even my husband, who was resistant to the idea, enjoyed our visit to the seahorse farm. Plus, I got to hold a seahorse! I have … (6 comments)

sacramento realtor in hawaii: Differences Between Resorts and a Hawaii House - 12/02/16 10:50 AM
My poor fingers are scraped up and a little painful this morning from pulling apart those Alaskan king crab legs last night. When a waiter serves crab at a luxury resort in Hawaii, the legs are already sliced and the prickly parts sanded down. Sometimes, they serve crab legs cut in half so all the diner needs to do is deftly slip the crab out of its shell with a fish fork.
But I am definitely roughing it here in Hawaii. For starters, I had to go grocery shopping yesterday, an activity I almost never engage in back in Sacramento. Well, I … (9 comments)
