william land park: William Land Park Rainbow with Geese and a Water Fountain - 07/17/13 12:10 AM

They say you can tell if somebody inserts a rainbow into a photograph with Photoshop because you should look at which way the sun is shining. Some photos with rainbows are unlikely to be real if the sun is shining directly on the object because that's not what produces a rainbow. A rainbow is created by reflection from behind.
In this particular photo of William Land Park that I shot yesterday while riding my bike, the sun is setting in the west, and we are looking east. Even though it was just an hour break from my work as a … (4 comments)

william land park: A Stunning 1939 Home in Land Park Just Came on the Market - 05/07/11 04:21 AM
It's rare that a home like this comes on the market in Land Park. This is one of those homes in Land Park that makes you fall in love the minute you walk in the door, which is how looking for a home to buy should be. You'll know instantly that this home is for you.
One of the deciding factors will be the WOW factor -- when the open floor plan hits you right between the eyes and makes your jaw drop. You can tell there was a lot of money spent to remodel this home. For example, the distressed … (4 comments)

william land park: How Much More is a Home on the Park in Land Park Worth? - 12/12/10 03:17 AM
I was reading Jim Braun's post this morning about helping out appraisers. He's talking about all those phone calls we as real estate agents get from appraisers asking us about value in certain neighborhoods. As a Land Park agent, I can get my fair share of inquiries from appraisers, especially in Land Park. It's where I live and work.
Some agents don't want to take the time to speak with an appraiser. Their attitude seems to be: What's in it for me? How am I going to make money from this call? I'm not, so I'm not talking to you. And … (6 comments)

william land park: Home Buyers Don't Care What You Tell Them as Long as You Tell Them - 10/29/10 02:58 AM
Buyers don't care what you tell them as long as you tell them. That's my opening statement when I hand home sellers a package of disclosures to complete. It's the things you don't tell a buyer that can come back to haunt you, not what you do say.
You take a neighborhood where I live and work like Land Park. Because I live in Land Park, I have intimate knowledge about the neighborhood, which agents who live outside of Land Park probably don't know. If they don't know, they can't disclose those facts to a buyer. Although, it could probably be … (22 comments)

william land park: More Photos of William Land Park WPA Rock Garden in Land Park, Sacramento - Part 3 - 06/04/09 02:57 AM
If you haven't met Myrl Jeffcoat, a busy agent in Sacramento, you're in for a treat. She's simply delightful and filled with interesting stories about what it was like to grow up in the Land Park area. I try to get together with Myrl at least every couple months or so for lunch. We ferret out interesting restaurants in Sacramento to explore.
One of my favorite lunch-time spots is Ricksha on 10th Street, just north of W Street. Their box lunches are $5.99, and I guarantee you'll wobble out of that place satiated and happy. Myrl and I had lunch at … (9 comments)

william land park: When Was the Last Time You Saw a Unicyclist in Land Park? - 05/30/09 02:54 PM
You never know what you might see in Land Park, especially the closer you get to William Land Park. The Sacramento SPCA (SSPCA) held its annual Doggy Dash event today at William Land Park. I sponsored one of my client's dog packs in the race. Amy McMullan supports the Pit Bull club known as Sacramento Responsible Pet Bull Lovers.
On the way there, what did you suppose I spotted? A unicyclist riding just a few blocks away from the park, on the corner of Land Park Drive and 12th.
I thought you might enjoy seeing a photo or two of this … (9 comments)

william land park: Ready For More Photos of the Rock Garden at William Land Park? Check Out Part 2. - 05/29/09 03:19 AM
Usually when I walk along the manicured paths of the WPA Rock Garden in William Land Park, I see very few visitors. It's not crowded. Oh, you might spot a few kids playing hide-and-seek or the lone photographer snapping pictures of flowers, but the Rock Garden in Land Park doesn't have an abundance of people roaming through. I've been there at different times of the day and various days of the week, and it's always quiet.
In fact, I bet a lot of people don't even know it is there. The garden is sort of tucked away behind the pond and … (5 comments)

william land park: Check Out the WPA Rock Garden at William Land Park in Sacramento (Part I) - 05/26/09 02:29 AM
One of the things that I like best about living in the Sacramento neighborhood of Land Park is the fact I can walk along our tree-canopied streets to just about anywhere. I walk not only to typical places such as restaurants, gift shops, boutiques, the Land Park Tower Theatre or Taylor's Market, but we have our very own William Land Park, which boasts over 11 acres of gently rolling grassy hills and a golf course, jogging trails, ponds, baseball field, an abundance of trees, picnic areas and more.
Tucked away on the southeastern side of the lake is a hidden treasure … (9 comments)

william land park: Free Fishing in Land Park Next Saturday: Sacramento Anglers Over 16 Need a Fishing License - 01/17/09 02:14 AM
There is nothing in the world that compares to the feeling you get when your bobber suddenly plunges below the water's surface and your fishing pole almost flies out of your hands. You can get that experience right here in William Land Park, across from the Zoo on Land Park Drive next Saturday, January 24th, when the California Department of Fish and Game hosts a free fishing clinic in Sacramento. Fishing begins at 8:30 and runs until noon.
This event is part of the Fishing in the City program, created in 1993 by the state of California to encourage urban fishing. … (12 comments)

william land park: Traffic Alert for Land Park Residents -- Sac City College Hosting National Events - 09/04/08 02:33 AM
I'd say next Saturday is a good day to take Riverside Boulevard as your north / south street through Land Park or maybe cut through Curtis Park and come down Broadway to get to your home in Land Park.
There will be tons of activity going on near Freeport and William Land Park, Saturday, September 13th. Land Park residents may wish to plan alternate routes and avoid this area all together. Sacramento City College has a busy day planned. In addition to its normal Saturday classes, here are other activities:
HBCU College Fair: 9 to 2 PM. Shuttle buses. 40 onsite … (2 comments)
