Less than a year ago a New Construction came on the market in a desirable location in Glen Head. Within one week we had an accepted offer and went to contract, with some minor revisions to the blueprints, both the builder and the buyers were content and looking forward to working together.

By the time the permits were in place, construction began in July. By September the house was framed and exterior complete. In early October, began the process of finishing the interior, with plumbing and electric, then the sheet-rocking and the start of some of the tile work and flooring.

Then came Hurricane Sandy! It stopped work for several weeks, while most of Long Island sat without power. When the work resumed, the biggest challenge was trying to get the gas hookup. The local Gas company was a bit tied up and out of manpower while dealing with the damage from the storm. With a portable gas heater, construction continued and by December the house was complete but lacking the Certificate of Occupancy due to the gas hookup.

This home consists of soaring ceilings, a formal Living Room and Dining Room, a gourmet Kitchen, Family Room with fireplace, 2 master suits, 3 family bedrooms, 4.5 Baths and much more, all sitting on 3/4 acres of lush property.

Finally, we got the hookup, made final adjustments, and got the Certificate of Occupancy!

This week we closed!

With my husband the builder, and I as the Realtor, it was a team approach to getting the job done. I'd assit the buyers in picking the tiles and paint colors, and he'd set them and complete the job.

Our best wishes to the new owners and their family! Now it's up to me to sell their last house, and I will!
