If the Time is Right- Don't Wait!! - 01/29/10 10:04 AM
Here is some advice straight from Troy Hine, Senior Loan Officer at Preferred Mortgage. I am working with him on a few deals and thought that his open letter below, was worth sharing. If you have questions for him, I will pass them along and post his replies!
"Those Who Wait Will Pay Thousands More This Spring"
Waiting a few extra days or weeks to purchase a home this spring could cost buyers thousands of extra dollars as the office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) implements several changes for loans guaranteed by the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).Coming just weeks before … (0 comments)

"The Most Innovative Real Estate Office Anywhere" - 01/28/10 09:28 AM
Last night, we had a great bash at our office to celebrate its total renovation. It was a great night with my fellow Realtors, loan and title associates. We celebrated and had dinner and drinks in our new digs (photos of the renovations available on my previous blog posts).
At one point, our broker, Darrin Friedman, spoke to the group and said that when he joined Coldwell Banker, and was being promoted to manager, he decided right then to create "the most innovative real estate office anywhere." I must say, I have never seen another office that is quite so sleek, so … (4 comments)

Good News - Open House - 01/24/10 09:13 PM
I had the best day of my real estate career on Sat: A wonderful open house where the neighbors attended in droves (as is typical) but the neighbors who seemed to have a genuine interest in the property I listed and in being helpful in promoting the property to friends/associates. I did feature a local award-winning interior designer at the Saturday open house. She brought her books/photos and was a real asset to the event and a great draw! I will try this again at future opens to bring additional traffic (she helped me with some staging too!)

I have used this and find it to be extremely helpful - best of all, it is FREE!
Instead of calling the standard "information" phone # in your area, next time you know the name of a business but need their phone # fast, just dial: 1-800-goog411. Google, yes, that GOOGLE, provides this service at no charge -- you will be instantly connected to the phone number of the business in the city/state you seek. Try it!

Here are a few tips and tricks to prepare a home for its debut on the market:
1. Clean, clean, clean!

5. Brighten up - replace light bulbs with brighter lights and ensure each is working.

Realtors Help the Homeless in DC Metro Area - 01/19/10 08:56 PM
The fight to end homelessness is a cause I know many Realtors have embraced and with good reason. My former brokerage was involved in Habitat for Humanity (a fantastic organization building homes for the needy while partnering with those who benefit to ensure the beneficiary's involvement and investment in the new property). Countless Realtors have also helped to feed and clothe the homeless and we should  continue to serve.
Recently I renewed my involvement in a local DC area charity, Many Hands, a wonderful group of over 100 women who each donate $1,000 every other year in order to pool their money into one  $100,000+ grant to benefit a … (3 comments)

A resident of Chevy Chase, MD, I am licensed to sell real estate in DC, MD and VA. Be it inside the Beltway or outside, here is a little scoop on each:
Washington, DC:
Of course most people think of the Monuments, a great free zoo, Fords Theater, National Theater, Kennedy Center, Warner Theater, the Verizon Center, biking trails, kayaking on … (0 comments)

RainMakers Danced For Rain - 01/18/10 01:30 PM
I love this post on MAKIN IT RAIN even in tough times.... Thanks Brad!
Via Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager (ActiveRain):
In a time not long ago, when the crops were dry, and communities were losing their families and neighbors, Rainmakers were the individuals that were looked up to and counted on for saving their people.  These were the folks that in spite of tough and troubling times, were the chosen ones to dance, smile, and pray for RAIN to save their people and their crops from the drought.  Despite their predicament, they chose to have a bright and positive attitude even during … (1 comments)

The New Agent in My Office- He's Lucky to Have the Support of ActiveRain - 01/16/10 08:16 PM
Wednesday morning I returned to work from 2 days away at ActiveRain Camp NYC - poof! another new agent had joined our Coldwell Banker office in DC. He seemed: eager, ready, open, and hopeful. He dresses impeccably -like he is headed to work at a bank (before banks went casual). This young agent is so fired up - so ready to go. He's wishing for his first closing and he doesn't yet have a listing or a signed buyer's agency agreement - -yet!
Unlike my start as a Realtor, he is jumping in with both feet in the social media realm. He's been in the office only a week, … (10 comments)

"Patience, Weed Hopper!" - 01/03/10 03:44 PM
My husband, a far more patient person than I, uses the phrase "patience, weed-hopper!" as a joke whenever he sees that I am getting annoyed with one of life's frustrations.... He makes me turn around and see the problem for what it is... Usually, its nothing life threatening for sure.
Realtors have certainly needed a sense of patience this past year, whether dealing with anything from a very slow moving banker on a foreclosure, or a wealthy business investor trying to make sure he/she doesn't pay too much for the investment property of their dreams.
One of the funniest articles I've read recently comes from … (46 comments)
