4 Safety Tips For Parents With Children
Going Trick-Or-Treating
Boo! It’s that time of year again; crazy looking jack-o-lanterns; glitter & fake blood; witches and broomsticks and bags and bags of those sugar infested cavity causers! Halloween just wouldn’t be the same without trick-or-treating, and although it’s the highlight for kids it can be a rather worrisome event for parents when safety is concerned. So in light of the ghouls and goblins of trick-or-treating here are 4 safety tips for parents that will help keep their children safe while out on the candy prowl.

Special Weather Alert from the City of Oak Hill in Nashville!

As a resident of Oak Hill I received this email today, January 29, 2010 with regards to our current (and beautiful!) snowy conditions...

Special Weather Alert
On Thursday afternoon the City of Oak Hill began a pre-salting program for our roads in preparation for today's weather. The trucks rolled back out this morning to try and keep the streets clear while the precipitation fell. Unfortunately, the mix of snow and ice have overwhelmed our efforts.
At eight o'clock Friday evening we are halting our efforts as the precipitation … (2 comments)

nashville: The REAL Guitar Hero - RIP Les Paul! - 08/13/09 01:31 PM
As a Nashville (Music City) native and a musician myself (albeit the black and white key type), how could I possibly not at least give a HUGE shout out to the legend himself, Les Paul, on the day of his death at age 94.
Thank you for your ENORMOUS contribution to the music world, Les Paul!!! Rest in peace.

nashville: February 2009: Nashville's Green Hills Condo Market Report - 03/08/09 09:34 PM
Nashville's Green Hills Condo Market remained fairly steady from January to February 2009.  The same number of sales occured (7).  I did notice a sale in The Whitney, which is a beautiful new upscale condo complex.
So have a look and see what you think!

Now, given that there are currently 90 active Green Hills condo listings ranging in price from $105K to $1.2M, I guess the fact that only 7 sold is really not that great - we could really deal with a better absorption rate!  But, if you're looking at a half full glass, then the … (0 comments)

nashville: January 2009: Nashville's Oak Hill Market Report - 03/08/09 09:18 PM
Well, this blog post is certainly a long time in the making.  Completely forgot to do the Oak Hill Report in January, so here it is, March 8 and I'm just going to say the old "better late than never!"
Sooooo... without further adoo. here it is:

January seems to have been a fairly healthy sales month, especially given the pathetic situation in February!
I will say that things are definitely picking up around the office - there has been a definite increase in activity since the Stimulus Package was passed.  I think maybe people were holding their breaths waiting … (0 comments)

nashville: The Impending Inauguration - I'm So Excited... Are You??? - 01/19/09 02:19 PM
Today I am really excited.  About tomorrow, that is!  January 20, 2009 will go down in the history books as an extra special year.  The year that Barack Obama was elected as the very first African-American President of the United States!
I can only imagine what's going on in Washington D.C. right now as people are preparing for this unbelievable event!  I am following loads of twitter folks to see what they are up to and how they are getting ready.  From food to fashion, the excitement is absolutely contagious!

Now here in Nashville, I was able to see the excitement … (4 comments)

nashville: The Top 10 Things I Learned in 2008, or How to Survive As a Realtor in Middle Tennessee! - 01/01/09 09:35 PM
Okay, so this post will mostly be tongue-in-cheek... and most of you know that I also teach piano lessons in Nashville, as well as have mobile music teachers as of the Fall 2008, so I don't solely rely on Real Estate.  BUT, just for laughs, let's take a look at the Top 10 Things I Learned in 2008 (from a Realtor's Perspective in the Middle Tennessee area)!
I prefer doing this from 10 down to 1, so.....

nashville: A Hit and Run on My Oak Hill Driveway - Nashville, Can You Help??? - 11/07/08 09:04 PM
The morning after Halloween this year (2008) I awoke to find part of my driveway destroyed and car parts, cds, a Ron Jon surf shop sticker, and other junk strewn about the yard.
This vehicle (most likely an SUV) should be missing a wheel cover part, a front license plate holder, a fog light and some other parts.
If anyone knows who did this, would you please contact me at 615.509.1753 - THANKS!!!

nashville: Amerigo's is Cooking Nashville Some Delicious Italian on West End! - 10/31/08 03:52 PM
If you are in the mood for Italian with a flair, be sure to visit Amerigo's on West End close to Downtown!  Open for Lunch and Dinner (and a GREAT Sunday Brunch!), Amerigo's has been a stable source of Italian food for Nashvillians since 1987.

One of my favorite dishes at Amerigo's is "straw and hay", which is spinach and flour linguine noodles with alfredo sauce, green peas, ham and mushrooms!  And their tiramisu is to die for!  My friend Glenda swears it's the best in Nashville!

There are six locations throughout the southeast, including the one … (1 comments)

nashville: Nashville Declared One of the Ten Best Places to Retire! - 10/27/08 02:05 PM
That's right!  According to Forbes magazine, Nashville just barely squeaked in at Number 10 on its list of the Top Ten Metropolitan Areas to Retire on a Fixed Budget!
www.Realtor.org reported that "It considered housing affordability, inflationary pressures, and job prospects for the 20 percent of those older than 65 who are still employed. Also, the magazine considered were physicians per capita and the number of people in the area who rely on Medicare."
So for those of you soon-to-be Retirees considering different places to land, put Nashville, TN on your list of places to think about!

nashville: Are we in a 21st Century Great Depression? The signs I saw... - 10/24/08 10:23 AM
Yesterday I was sitting in line at a light coming off the interstate when I saw a police car stopped to my left, just around the corner.  I am a curious person, so I tried to figure out what the fuss was about.
There were two policemen talking to about 5 people (obviously a family).  It looked like a father with four teenagers.  There was no mother.  They each had a sizeable duffel bag they were carrying.  It looked like they had not had a shower in a couple of days, but they were all clean-cut looking people.
I looked around … (7 comments)

nashville: Green Hills Whole Foods Serving Up Organic all Around - 10/06/08 09:50 PM
I wanted to let everybody know that Whole Foods (also affectionately called "Whole Paycheck" by me and a couple of gals) has got nice looking pumpkins 3 for $13 right now.  Kind of throws my "Whole Paycheck" joke back in my face :)
Whole Foods, Nashville style is located in Green Hills in the new Hill Center shopping area.  It offers organic products of all types, from food to clothing.  That's right.  Get your darling hemp dress here!  I got a killer pair of hemp mary jane shoes with cork buttons and recycled rubber tire soles - love 'em!

nashville: Belmont University Hosts the Presidential Debate! Can't Get In? - 10/06/08 03:01 PM
To my knowledge this is the first time that Nashville, TN has ever held a Presidential Debate.  And Belmont University is the lucky host of the event!
Yes, it's true.  John McCain and Barack Obama will be duking it out right here in the Music City.  There are some fortunate folks out there who will be able to attend the Town Hall Format Debate LIVE and IN PERSON at the Curb Event Center, but for the rest of us, we most likely won't even be able to break through the fortress surrounding the campus!
Here's an alternative, though.  Bongo Java is … (1 comments)

nashville: Hey Nashville, Check Out This Classic Hillsboro Village Pic! - 08/22/08 11:27 PM

Meet Patricio, Nashville's Most Modern Cowboy, riding his electric bike through Hillsboro Village in front of the very famous (and yummy) Pancake Pantry!
He was on his way to, what else, a gig!
I was sitting at the light at Hillsboro Road and Wedgewood/Blakemore and spotted him riding his bike.
I just had to pull my car over and ask him if I could take his pic.  I personally think he should be selected for "You're So Nashville if..." contest.
Here's his entry:
You're so Nashville if you ride your electric bike through Hillsboro Village on your way to a … (4 comments)

I just wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for the kindness you have shown me lately:
Yesterday, Mr. and Ms. First Time Buyers and I had to meet to figure out a counter offer and you had the nerve to bring me a box of chocolates for my birthday!  How dare you?!?!  Don't you know that I am bound to work even harder for you to get you what you want in your first house?

And what about you, Mr. Single Man Buyer.  You have now taken me to dinner TWICE!  And both times has it been my intention … (5 comments)
