Kindergarten Lessons: My Two Feet - 08/25/11 07:46 PM
Kindergarten is where I learned my left from my right, and a few other important lessons. I clearly remember my 1st day of school – a half day of kindergarten at Thaddeus Stevens Elementary School in the Elliott neighborhood on the West End of Pittsburgh, PA. I remember the excitement of the weeks leading up to that first day – sitting at my mother’s elbow, watching raptly as she pinned patterns and cut out pieces from lovely calico print and glen plaid fabrics which we’d gone downtown to Murphy’s five and ten cent store to pick out together. While Mom skillfully (5 comments)
Clayton County School Board Gets Good News - 08/20/11 04:44 PM
Clatyon County School Board Gets Good News The Clayton County School Board has had more than its share of the limelight in recent years. Unfortunately, that light was shining on accreditation troubles more than on achievements. So here’s a bit of good news, recently released by the school board and school district: For the Fourth straight year, the Business Services Department of Clayton County Public Schools has won the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Program as sponsored by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).
This certificate was designed by the ASBO International to enable school (5 comments)

Good News for Georgia Home Owners: NOD - NOT the End of the World - 08/19/11 11:03 AM
Good News for Gerogia Home Owners: NOD - NOT the End of the World Let's face it... even though the recent upturn in housing sales in the metro Atlanta real estate market has given rise to some much-deserved optimisim among buyers sellers and agents, the fact is that recovery will likely be slow. Economic recovery takes time, employment prospects are still uncertain, and Georgia homeowners who have already fallen behind on their mortgage payments may still be struggling to bring their loans current. If you find yourself in this situation, remember it is NOT the end of the world. You (1 comments)

Good News for Georgia Home Owners & Home Buyers: More Agents are Willing to do Short Sales - 08/15/11 11:19 PM
Good News for Georgia Home Owners & Home Buyers: More Agents are Willing to do Short Sales Several years ago when I chose to specialize in Georgia short sales, the field was wide open. But in recent months, as lenders realize the advantages of short sale over foreclosure, and foreclosure inventory slows it's flood into the market, more and more agents are realizing both the importance of and the necessity for short sales as a pre-foreclosure alternative. So, now the tide is turning, more agents are willing to take on non-foreclosed distressed properties, and short sales are gaining ground in the closed sales (8 comments)
Good News for Georgia Real Estate Agents: Summer Sales are UP! - 08/15/11 10:36 PM
Good News for Henry County Real Estate Agents: Summer Sales are UP! The summer market is looking better than it has for several years for real estate professionals serving Henry County GA. Currently there is a strange and exciting juxtaposition of year-over-year data reported by the Georgia MLS: While average sales prices are down by 9.5% from last year, and available listings for sale are down by 23.3%, overall home sales volume is actually UP! Pending sales are up this summer over last summer by 37.6% in May, a whopping 105% in June, and 33% in July.
Traditionally, a “normal” real estate market has approximately six months worth of homes for sale. Much higher than that and you’ve got a Buyers’ Market, with more inventory available for sale than there are buyers looking to purchase. When inventory dips much lower than six months worth of homes on the market, you’ve got a Sellers’ (3 comments)

Good News for Georgia Home Owners: Low Rates Encourage Refinance Applications - 08/13/11 06:31 PM
Good News for Georgia Home Owners: Low Rates Encourage Refinance Applications Many Georgia home owners have been discouraged from applying for Home Equity Loans due to an uncertain economy and more stringent lending guidelines recently adopted by most banks. The word on the street was the nobody could get a loan, so why bother trying. But this week’s lending news was good as reported by Atlanta Biz Journal and Atlanta Journal Constitution: Lending activity is up slightly, due to a surge in mortgage refinancing applications last week which seems to have created a bump in lending activity, with mortgage rates holding (2 comments)
Good News for Georgia Home Owners: Solving Your Mortgage Crisis Just Got Easier! - 08/13/11 05:50 PM
Good News for Georgia Home Owners: Solving Your Mortgage Crisis Just Got Easier! Lenders Ramp up Staffing to Assist in Processing “Elva, I’m so embarrassed. It’s hard to even talk about it. I never thought I’d be in this situation. I feel like a failure, and so all alone.” I’ve heard some variation of this same heartfelt story from many different home sellers since I began specializing in short sales a few years ago. Many of my Atlanta area neighbors have had to default on their mortgages in recent months due to loss of income or some other unexpected challenge. For (2 comments)
gent, and one thing has not changed: I still love houses. In particular, I now love Georgia houses. But there have been other loves before her. Yes, I'm a woman with a past. I've loved East Coast houses, and West Coast houses. Desert houses, and mountain houses. I doubt there is any help for me. I've loved many, many houses.
