Trieste and Tuscany Village - Gated Townhomes in Boca Raton, Florida - 05/30/10 09:15 PM
Trieste and Tuscany Village -  Gated Townhomes in Boca Raton, Florida

Nestled along Federal Highway are Trieste and Tuscany Village, both gated townhome communities in Boca Raton.  Centrally located just a few minutes from downtown Boca Raton's Mizner Park as well as Delray Beach's trendy Atlantic Avenue, these communities offer location, location, location!  For those who don't want the responsibility of maintaining a single family home, a townhome may be just the thing for you.  The association maintains the exterior of your home as well as the landscaping.  You maintain only the interior.   And, in Trieste, you have a backyard as well!

Non-Gated Pet Friendly Communities in Boca Raton, FL - 05/28/10 10:01 PM
Non-Gated Pet Friendly Communities in Boca Raton, FL

Although there are many pet friendly gated communities in Boca Raton and Delray Beach, there are also many non-gated pet friendly communities.  Some people prefer these types of communities for any number of reasons;  1) the maintenance tends to be lower as there is no guard or gate, 2) they are usually less strict with their rules and regulations in these communities and 3) some people simply do not like living in a homeowner's association.   There is something for everyone in south Florida.

The following communities are non-gated and pet friendly.  These are all resales.

"Second Place" is Not an Address You Want - 05/25/10 08:22 PM
I've encountered this situation more and more often lately in the south Florida market that I work.  When a home is priced right, it will sell.  Oftentimes, it garners multiple bids, as J. Philip Faranda has explained so well below.
What will it take to buy a house you love?  Sometimes not even full price.  Please read futher...
Via J. Philip Faranda (J. Philip LLC) Westchester County NY:
I think the New York market must be in some stage of recovery, because I am starting to see more multiple bid situations as well as strong first offers. It makes sense; people are starting … (2 comments)

Stuck At The Bridge... - 05/21/10 10:38 PM
Stuck At The Bridge...

Stuck at the Bridge is an expression well known to south Floridians.    Everyone living here or visiting here at one time or another has called someone to say, I got stuck at the bridge, or I'm stuck at the bridge.   It's a way of life down here that we accept in exchange for the warm weather and the beauty of our surroundings

When crossing the Intracoastal Waterway to A1A, which is the road that runs along the ocean, there is a bridge at certain intersections that will take you to the beach.  The bridges are set … (9 comments)

Single Family Homes in Old Floresta Historic District, Boca Raton, Florida - 05/19/10 10:39 PM
Single Family Homes in Old Floresta Historic District, Boca Raton, Florida

The area known as Old Floresta Historic District is one of the prettiest areas in Boca Raton.   Covering only a small number of streets, it is characterized by lush, tropical landscaping that lines the streets and homes, streets that are named after flowering plants.   The neighborhood of Old Floresta dates back to the 1920s when Addison Mizner had a vision for a resort area in Boca Raton.

What an Extraordinary Opportunity for the "Move-Up" Buyer This Market Is! - 05/16/10 08:34 PM
Mirela Monte of Myrtle Beach, SC explains this so well!  I've explained this many times myself to sellers when they want to get what their neighbors got a few years back.
If you're a move-up buyer, this is a great read!
Via Mirela Monte, Your Myrtle Beach Real Estate Connection:

In this volatile and capricious market full of vicissitude, it’s difficult to fulfill a seller’s pricing wishes.  I have not seen a seller pleased with an offer in years, have you?
Perhaps a shift in paradigm is in order: any seller who is moving up, should be delighted with this … (4 comments)

My Trip to Vegas 2010 - 05/08/10 10:27 PM
My Trip to Vegas 2010

Sorry for not posting in Vegas.  I forgot my cable to transfer pictures (who wants a post without pictures?), had my parents with me and came down with a strep throat.  Had a great time anyway!   There is something very satisfying about seeing your child happy and content, especially a difficult-to-raise child.  That made my trip all worthwhile.

Saw as much as we could.  My favorite hotels were The Bellaggio, the Venetian and the Paris.  I haven’t been in Vegas in over 30 years, and it has changed a lot.  The hotels are … (9 comments)

A Long Trip To Vegas - 05/04/10 09:04 AM
A Long Trip to Vegas
I'm leaving today to meet my parents and son in Las Vegas.  This morning I got a call from my dad that their  flight was cancelled due to inclement weather in the New York area.  Seemed a bit strange because it was early morning and the flight was late afternoon.   So they rebooked to leave tomorrow morning.

I had a 4:40 pm flight from Ft Lauderdale nonstop to Vegas.  We boarded on time.  I had great seatmates – Andrea on one side and Todd on the other.  Young, vibrant, fun-to-be-with people.

We were … (8 comments)
