I was recently contacted by a young couple looking to buy a home. They had settled on a particular area they liked in Delray Beach, so we set out to look at homes in this community. When you buy a new home, it's important to change the locks. I always tell my clients this as they're ready to close on their new home. Why, they ask? Oh, because the neighbors may have a key. The previous owner of the foreclosure you're buying may still have a key. Their friends may have keys. Their parents may have keys. The cleaning people may have keys.

This past week I took my buyer around the world in 24 hours.
The buyer was in Europe. The bank was in California. The title company was in Sarasota on the west coast of Florida. The funds were accidently wired to Canada. The bank's signature had to come from Jacksonville, which is northern Florida and the house was in Boca Raton, Florida on the east coast.
