What Is a 55+ Or Active Adult Community - Charlottesville VA Active Adult Communities
Several new clients have contacted me lately inquiring about Charlottesville VA 55+ communities or active adult communities, but they have not understood what makes up a 55+ community. The Charlottesville area has several 55+ communities.    Unlike many people's preconceptions, 20% of the residents in a 55+ neighborhood may actually be under age 55.  When you examine this regulation it actually makes perfect sense.  Many couples have age differences with one spouse being over 55 and the other under.  With these regulations if the older spouse dies the younger may still remain in the home.  Or suppose for some reason a grandchild would need to come live with the grandparents; in a 55+ community that would be able to happen.  However in an over 62 community, all of the residents must be 62 years old or older.
Many Charlottesville 55+ communities have amenities such as walking trails which appeal to the active lifestyle of our older adult population.  Other of these communities are located to be convenient to shopping or senior centers.  First floor masters and one floor living are important considerations for these homebuyers as well.
