MICHIGAN IS BROKE....... MICHIGAN IS SCRAMBLING TO RAISE REVENUE EVERY WAY IT CAN.....    Plans are afoot to extend bar hours from 2AM to 4AM.   The aim is to attract more alcohol sales and there-by drag more loot into the state's empty coffers.
AGAIN......MICHIGAN IS FLAT BUSTED!!  but there's confused logic here.
Everyday there are television public service announcements warning folks about the dangers of drinking and driving.   There are on-going warnings about the dangers of alcohol on health and the misery it causes many families.   The newspapers are filled with alcohol related traffic accidents causing property damage and death.    In short.......TOO MUCH ALCOHOL IS NOT A GOOD THING.    Everyone agrees on this.    However, it is good business for state revenues.  
Under the plan Michigan bar owners would pay an extra $1,500 for the privilege of staying open longer.   Am I hearing this right????

Think of all those $1,500 per bar payments, liquor taxes and money from drunk driving fines they'll drag in.    Taxes and fines are big business that bring in billions of extra dollars every year to ... more
