Open House vernacular translated
In the Real Estate Industry we get comfortable with our "lingo" and with the every day dealings that seem so normal to us and forget to think about the regular consumer that does not deal with real estate issues all the time.
You know what I'm talking about the day you are hosting an open house and someone knocks on the door and waits for you to open the door, then is afraid to come in, or expects you to walk them around the property.  You can tell right away that they don't do this often and don't know if there's a right way or a wrong way to do it.
So I decided to do a little research and came up with a great article by Elizabeth Weintraub called Open House Etiquette for Home Buyers, which really cracked me up and finished inspiring me into writing Open House Etiquette.
Every industry has its own rules and its own vernacular which needs to be translated to the consumer.  So next time you talk to your customers about the details of a real estate transaction, make sure you communicate in plain English......unless of course they are from another country or another planet.
