Be encouraged by the humble Inukshuk
The Olympic Winter games are just around the corner, hosted in the beautiful Canadian city of Vancouver, British Columbia. The official logo . . .

reminded me of some photos I shot on a family vacation in Newfoundland, 2008.

We stayed in a little cottage in Conception Bay, and there were rocks everywhere. It inspired us to have an Inukshuk building event (the rock figures are called Inukshuks). We made large ones and really small ones, then had fun photographing them at different angles and in different lighting conditions. The two above were only a few inches tall.

Sunset, of course, made for the most beautiful photos.
An inukshuk is one of the oldest objects found in the subarctic regions. They are made out of unworked stone for the purpose of marking a place, route or memorial. They are meant to say, "Someone was here" or "You are on the right path".
Kind of like little symbols of encouragement and fellowship, in such a vast and barren landscape!

As my mind typically works, these little guys got me thinking . . . what markers are we leaving to encourage those behind us?
The ActiveRain Community is a lot like the little Inukshuk, ... more
