The ICC (InterCounty Connector) Status
The ICC is an 18 mile controlled access toll road that will connect I-270 and I-95.    Despite the attention from the media - some people don't think about it and the positive/negative impact on the property values.  The commute routes are some of the worst in the country and most of us look forward to any relief from the congestion.
It has been talked about for so long that people don't really believe construction will ever begin.  However, according to the website http://www.iccproject.com/, the westernmost segment, will be the first to get underway, starting in mid 2007 with a planned completion and opening in late 2010.
The western portion of the ICC route has changed several times and the impact has not settled in on many homeowners who will relinquish their property or a portion thereof, or did not realize how close the ICC is to their home.  Many homeowners are crying "foul" in the media as they claim to be surprised that the project is actually moving forward.
Property owner's effected are receiving notifications and an independent appraiser's assessment and they have an opportunity to appeal and provide evidence if they believe there is an error in evaluation.  The property owner has a right to request ... more
