Just a small reminder: Like politics, real estate is local! Make it so!
John Mulkey, the "Housing Guru" over in Waleska, Georgia, gets a lot of Featured Posts about the doom and gloom in the real estate market.
Rarely, if ever, is there a Featured Post with positive real estate news, so I'd just like to remind people that, like politics, real estate is local.
John's most recent Featured Post quotes David Stevens, head of the FHA, as saying that the real estate market is on life support, buoyed only by the federal government.
First of all, Mr. Stevens is presumed to be an expert, but I'm not sure we should really trust those experts anymore. What have they done for us lately?
Brought stability to the real estate market? Helped GM and Ford recover? Keep banks that are too big to fail from actually failing? All of which kept millions of people working? Okay, so maybe they are experts after all, but even experts make mistakes, which might be what got us into this mess to begin with. Should we even talk about "the experts" who were drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico?
Nevertheless, here in San Diego, we seem to be doing okay:
