The Wine Rack
AGO, I had dropped by a home during an inspection to see how the property inspector was coming along.  As I walked in the door, I smelled something "funny".  I hollered at the inspector and we tracked the smell back to the kitchen.  Seems the sellers used their oven as a wine rack.  The inspector had turned on the oven, not bothering to look and see if there was anything IN the oven.... several bottles of red wine.  Which had heated up nicely and the corks had begun desintegrating and spewing wine all over the inside of the oven door.  The inspector had no choice but to OPEN that door and face the mess.  I doubt he will EVER make that mistake again.  And I now have a SELLER HOME INSP PREP sheet that tells a seller to EMPTY their dishwasher and their oven for the inspection! ... more
