Boomer Realtors and the Gen Xers
Recently  I watched a webinar by Matthew Ferrara that focused on Boomer Realtors and the Gen Xer mind set. It talked about how so many of us attempting  to work with Gen Xers,  often  think they are from a different planet!  The webinar focused on the cultural influences that have shaped their thinking, and the parallels of Star Trek. There are 40,000,000 of them between the ages of 30-45, that are "move up" buyers, who made Captain Kirk their hero.

The average age of Realtors is 54, or Boomer age.  42% of  Boomers got married between the ages 18-28,  and bought their first home.  67% of Gen Xers were single during those years, and  they are now turning into first time sellers, and second time buyers.  These were the "latch key" kids that grew to be independent, highly educated,  competitive, and image conscious. They grew up with Captain Kirk and Star Trek.  As a result Boomer Realtors and Gen Xers seem to have problems communicating, just like the Admiral and Captain Kirk.
