No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.
No good deed goes unpunished. But sometimes you have to wonder why bother doing a good deed. I just finished a home inspection and the buyers agent stopped by just as I was wrapping up with the buyer client. She asked if there were any major issues. There really weren't any major issues, but I mentioned a concern with the furnace. The furnace was a Lennox model with an odd double filter. It was clear the homeowner were not aware of the second filter since it was over 1/2" thick with dust and dirt. It was not visible from the filter door area. The other filter was installed the wrong direction so the air was only hitting half the filter. 
The interior of the home was immaculate, obviously the woman took great pride in her home. But she had to be cleaning her house every single day to keep it looking as nice as it did based on the condition of the filters. So as a gesture of goodwill and information to help her realize what her filter looked like and so she doesn't have to clean her house so often, we left her a nice written note explaining the fact ... more
