Charlottesville Horse Farms At The Keswick Horse Show This week is the 107th Keswick Hunt Club Horse Show and Charlottesville horse farms are sure to be well represented.  The show started on Tuesday and will run through Sunday afternoon, with two rings running concurrently.  You will see all ages of riders competing from children on ponies, to adult amateur riders and top professional riders.  Two of the special events are the $15,000 Hunter Derby held Friday evening and the $10,000 Jumper Classic taking place on Saturday night.  On top of all the fun, the horse show raises money for Habitat For Humanity.

The event draws some of the finest show hunters and jumpers from up and down the east coast.  However as we know Central Virginia is horse country and a number of these top horses live right here on Charlottesville horse farms. 

So far this week Charlottesville has seen more than its share of rain, but the show goes on rain or shine.  In one of the pictures you can see the huge puddles beside the schooling area, (the schooling area is where the horses warm up before entering the show ring to compete) but the ring crew ... more
