Why live in Towamencin Township?

The roots of Towamencin Township date back to the early 1700's when land was deeded to German, Dutch and Welsh settlers through commissioners of William Penn.  These settlers mainly farmed the land.  According to legend, in the 1720's, a Lenni Lenape Indian chief who spoke broken English reported that he saw "two men seen" clearing the land near his tribe.  The name Towamencin stuck.
