Polybutylene Plumbing In Your Home?
Do you have Polybutylene plumbing in your home? Polybutylene or PB for short, is a plastic resin that was produced from the mid 1970's until 1995 and used for water supply lines in homes. It was supposed to be durable and cost effective, but turned out to be a nightmare. The product is faulty and there are class action lawsuits that have been started and finished. The PB pipe would harden or crack, and fittings would burst, possibly due to chlorine in the water, and quite often would explode, flooding homes without notice. My home had this, and after several small leaks and one major one, we had a replumbing company come in and put CPVC plumbing in. No more worries about the ticking time bomb.

If you have Polybutylene, and are located in the Roswell, GA area, check with companies such as Delta Mechanical, they do the complete replumbing, fix sheetrock and match paint, etc. Price depends on the number of fixtures in your home.

This is an example of what polybutylene looks like.
