Herby K’s - Home of the SHRIMP BUSTER

When we visit anywhere, we always want to do what the “locals” do.  We want a non-commercial, real people, a real experience.  My husband and I not only when we travel but also when we PCS to a new area.   I have been working on hitting all the “must-do” things in Shreveport-Bossier myself, and reporting back to you the awesomeness that I experience.  This time I wanted to give you a heads up on a experience you can take part in before it happens!
 
Herby K’s is a great Shreveport experience, with great food and great people.  Next Sunday (Sunday, October 16, 2011) Herbie K’s will be celebrating their 75th Anniversary with a Block Party and Benefit.  This is a must –attend kind of block party.  So if you want to experience Shreveport stop by from 2pm-6pm.

Herby K’s first opened as the Flying Crow and was originally a small store front that you could get packaged liquor, tobacco and the occasional sandwich.  When Herbert Busi Jr. returned from college in 1936 he transformed the family owned store into the restaurant we know today and gave it the nickname he picked up while at LSU in Baton Rouge.  ... more
