Open Houses are like Drunken Spouses.
Open houses are like drunken spouses. Well in an abstract way.
   Hosting an open house is an essential avenue for more than potentially selling the property your at.  Few often buy that property.  Most importantly is to meet potential home buyers.  Some that attended do want to buy.....eventually!
     Now for the drunken spouse part.  When meeting a customer at an open house sometimes the "guest" will start saying things about the property that doesn't make sense.  They spend 30 minutes walking through the house asking questions but not stopping to hear the answers.  When asked to sign the guest registry, it's almost like they're in the witness protection.   I'll often take the pen, my pen, and finish filling it out.  All in fun I'll drill them for information and we make future plans.    
     So the next day you follow up with them.  Just to see if there's any spark in those embers from the day before.  BAM!
Memory loss seems to have taken over.  They can't seem to remember our meeting, a quick mention of the abutting swamplands triggers their memory.  And the mauve countertop, OY!   Now they remember me and start apologizing, That's okay, ... more
