Kayaking on the Big Island
Maile's Kayaks on the Big Island was a hoot.  We took a short road trip from Kona on the Kealakeua Bay Road and we found Maile's Kayaks.  We rented two kayaks and paddled out into Captain Cook Bay.  It was 10 am and beautiful, all of a sudden we were surrounded by three pods of spinner dolphins, twisting, leaping and playing not five feet away from us.
Maile's Kayaks is run by a really nice man called Dexter, who will give you a run down on all the locals, not require a safety brief, and make you laugh, bottom line it is a no fuss rental. Super cheap $60 for two people for as much time as you want.  The snorkeling equipment is a bit iffy so take your own.  We pulled the Kayaks up on the shore of Captain Cook Park (you will need a state park permit to leave your kayaks on the shore of the park but it is well worth it).
