A Surprisingly Inspirational Good Bye to Whitney Houston
To my great surprise Whitney Houston's funeral service touched my heart in many ways. A very faithful group of people were in attendance. Faithful to her yes, but also faithful to God. It was a gentle, yet powerful reminder that we all have our faults, our vices, our failings. But we are still loved. Every day God gives us a clean slate and renews our heart in preparation to receive his grace. Every day. Just because Whitney had her demons doesn't mean she wasn't a faithful child of God. He loves us, demons and all.
A large part of me is angry - and not at Bobby Brown. I'm angry at The Media. Why?
Because for a great many years all that was reported was Whitney's outrageously dangerous behaviour. By all acoounts, according to Saturday's funeral testimonials, she spent a lot of time giving to others. Advice, love, kind words, and such. But most of the world never knew. They didn't know that she was a normal person with normal failings, who on good days and bad - gave back. Goodness doesn't make the news I guess.
