Video Games - No Longer in this House!
Yesterday was the last straw...got an email from our son's teacher that he had purposely tripped someone going down the hallway...luckily, they didn't fall or anything, but it was the last straw for me.  And I know it's the video game playing...it's like kids nowadays are OBSESSED with video games...they become reality...from grades slumping, lying, cheating, bad behavior, arguing (any of this sound familiar in your house?), no more.
We "had" Playstation and Wii, along with our son's hand held 3DS.  He got to keep the 3DS, however, all the other video game platforms, games, and accessories are now gone.
I no longer allow anything other than 3DS in this house, and you know what our son's doing right now?  Sitting next to me quietly READING A BOOK!!!
I know I did the right thing.  Even when friends come over and the kids play video games, I can tell a difference in their attitude just in the time they're here!  I asked one friend of our son's to do something for me, and he said "HOLD ON!" And with that answer, I shut down the video game and said, "That doesn't fly in this house." I honestly thought he'd never come ... more
