Check out this amazing aviation museum near Dulles Airport!
Living in the Catonsville & Ellicott City area means being less than an hour from a really amazing museum - the National Air and Space Museum's Steven Udvar Hazy Center.  This place is filled with hundreds of airplanes from our nation's incredible history of aviation! It's really spectacular because of the great number of airplanes suspended from the 3 story ceiling.  The space itself is the size of several airplane hangers and it's easy to spend several hours wandering the space.  The museum is full of windows and natural light and is very family friendly.  We saw tons of families with strollers and using a wheelchair would not be a problem.  The displays are widely staged with plenty of room to move around without blocking someone else's view - kind of a rare thing when you think about going to a museum! The big news at this museum is that the Space Shuttle Discovery is now on display!  Many of you probably remember seeing it being flown on a huge airplane a few weeks ago on the final flight from NASA in Florida.  It's impressive how quickly they got the shuttle set up and ready for viewing.  The shuttle is enormous of course ... more
