A Snake Preview In New Port Richey- FL- The Black Racer Visit
A Snake Preview in New Port Richey FL -The Black Racer Visit
Who is this guy and what is he doing in my yard - he’s here for A Snake Preview. Craig says he’s a Black Racer and he’s non-venomous. Black Racers grow between 30 to 60 inches- this one was about 48” but I didn’t actually measure him. ☺

Baby Black Racers are marked with black, brown and red and lose their coloration as they grow. In adults, the black color is satiny and shiney. Called Racers because they move quickly when threatened, they are fun to watch racing away.

Black Racers are daylight hunters, and they look for frogs, toads, rodents, birds, and lizards. They are a subspecies of the Coluber constrictor. The Black Racer is also known as the Blue Racer in other parts of the country. Cute little guy.
I love wildlife of all kinds; everything has a reason to be. Namaste.
