Gulf Coast Hurricane Preparedness
There's all of the obvious precautions that people tell you about, boarding up your windows, have plenty of water, and candles, but there is so much more that goes into hurricane prep. In this article you will find ideas and preparation tactics that are often forgotten to help better prepare when a hurricane strikes.
The first thing is to have a designated spot for everything. One of the biggest issues is trying to find and gather everything right before the storm. A big clear plastic tote in the garage or attic is perfect to store all of your flashlights, candles, blankets, ect. Second, thing is don’t wait until the last minute and try to go by everything at once. The stores will be crowded, overpriced, and picked over. Instead, gather items throughout the year that you may need. Hit up sales on any camping gear throughout the year. Propane powered grills are the best thing to have when the power goes out. If you don’t have a propane grill, you can line a terracotta pot with a few sheets of aluminum foil and place charcoal in it and you can cook over that. No more cold soup during a power outage.
