As a REALTOR® working throughout the Portland Metro area, I get lots of inquiries from people moving here from other states. Whatever state you come from, here are are some of the common questions I get:
1. Does it rain all the time? No, it actually doesn't rain all the time....especially in the summer months where we typically have very little rain. Ok..so we do get most of our rain in the winter months but I bet you didn't know that we actually get LESS rain on average per year than say the folks in New York. Yep..we get on average 3.4" compared to New York's 3.7". Our summers are absolutely gorgeous and the winters are mild compared to other parts of the country. I know while most of the country was under snow...we had rain. Oh yeah..I'll take the rain over shoveling snow every day!
2. Is it true that people from Portland dislike people that move there from another state..especially California? As a Oregon transplant myself, I can say that I heard this from someone that I was chatting with from Portland when I was living in Austin, TX. ... more
