Getting rid of the Candy!
Halloween is over. Whether you had little ones who went out and collected a big stash or, like me, you overbought for the number of children who came to the door, many of us have a lot of candy in the house!
What are some ideas to deal with this abundance of sugar?
Pick through, saving only the items you like, and freeze the rest (most candy freezes very well if stored in a zip-type freezer bag). Check with local retirement homes and homeless shelters to see if they would like candy donations. Drop some off at your local firehouse or police station. Bag it up and take it  to the office. If you work from home, like I do, send it in to someone else's office. Candy and offices just go together--it usually disappears quickly! Check for local dentists and orthodontists who are collecting it. We have one local orthodontist, Dr. Tisseront, who collects candy each year  ' to benefit Children's National and our Troops overseas!!' Do you have any ideas for other creative ways to dispose of the excess candy?
My personal advice: be sure to keep a couple of pieces around, if you have a sweet tooth, but get rid of ... more
