Sarasota is located on the southwestern coast of Florida. Downtown Sarasota has much to offer with the Ringling Museum and Selby Gardens close by.  St. Armand's Key is a destination shopping area with numerous upscale boutiques.  Restaurants abound and water views are impossible to miss. 
The barrier islands belonging to Sarasota are Lido Key, Saint Armand Key, Otter Key, Coon Key, Bird Key and part of Longboat Key and Siesta Key are famous for the quality of their beaches. Longboat Key, south of Anna Maria Island, is divided between Manatee and Sarasota counties.  Anna Maria Island is 7.5 miles long and one mile wide with powder soft white sand beaches and has no buildings taller than three stories. 
Bradenton Beach is located on Anna Maria Island and has a population of about 1,700 people. The two other cities on Anna Maria Island are Holmes Beach with a population of about 5,000 and Anna Maria Island City with a population of about 1,800.  These beach communities are perfect for anyone wanting a very casual beach lifestyle.
