Lexington, VA was founded in 1777, we are the second oldest Lexington in the nation, having been named after Lexington Mass. Where the first battle of the American Revolution began. Rich in history & tradition, The local walking tour of Lexington offers the visitor a small glimpse of what locals and the newly relocated have discovered for themselves. There is much to see and do.
The Stonewalls Jackson House, was the only home that General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson ever owned. Built in 1800. Jackson and his second wife Mary Anna lived in the house from 1859 till 1861 when he departed for the civil war. The home was owned by the family until 1906 when the Daughters of the Confederacy purchased it. It was used as Stonewall Jackson hospital for 47 years until 1954 when it was purchased and opened as a museum to honor Jackson.
 
R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church: Built in 1883, General Robert E. Lee was a senior warden at Grace Episcopal church and just a few days prior to his death in 1870 approved the plans for this new church.
