Wreaths Across America December 14, 2013 Arlington Cemetery
This year the annual Wreaths Across America Caravan leaves Harrington Maine on December 8, 2013 and heads down the east coast for arrival at Arlington National Cemetery on December 14, 2013 at 9 AM.
The Wreaths Across America project started quietly in 1992 with Morrill Worcester and his family.  The project took off in 2006 through the power of social media and since then the project has grown.  The goal is still to place a wreath on every grave in Arlington National Cemetery.
For those of us who have been fortunate enough to participate in the project over the years, watching the number of volunteers grow as well as the increase in trucks arriving is heart warming.  It is a somber task to place wreaths on the graves of our hero's but one that it is an honor to do.
If you live in the DC area and want to participate in the project all you have to do is show up.  I recommend you come in by Metro or carpool as traffic backs up quickly headed into the cemetery. The opening ceremony takes place in the Amphitheater where they announce the official sections of the cemetery for wreath placement.
