Act now on the GA clean air bill
The Georgia Legislature passed a bill to create first-of-a-kind state incentives to increase energy efficiency and shift us towards cleaner sources of energy on April 4th, the last day of the Legislative Session. To help ensure this bill is signed by Governor Perdue, he needs to hear strong support for clean energy and energy efficiency from the public. Problem: The average Georgian uses 25% more electricity in their home than the national average. And more than 97% of the electricity generated in the state comes from non-renewable sources of energy. Solution: Promoting clean energy and energy efficiency can help conserve the environment while creating jobs and helping us save money. The Georgia General Assembly passed HB 670 as the 2008 legislative session ended last week. HB 670, sponsored by Rep. Chuck Sims, helps promote clean energy (solar and wind) and energy efficiency technology (geothermal, lighting, and efficient buildings). Specifically, it creates tax credits for individuals and businesses that purchase and install equipment as part of an investment in wind, solar or geothermal energy production or energy efficiency.
