HAWAII OCEAN SAFETY: EDUCATION is a MUST for ALL!
 
For the past few days we've had HIGH SURF WARNINGS on the North Shore and West Shores of Oahu (all other islands have the same going on except the Island of Hawaii "Big Island" has most North, East and Southeast shores with HIGH SURF WARNINGS!
What does that mean to all of us?  It means to stay out of the water that has LIFE THREATENING surf?  What part of that do those that have died or had to have been rescued over the last few days? 
 
On the evening news there are many injuries and even deaths from getting caught in the dangerous surf and strong undertows.  There was a video of senior visitors getting too close to the water with posted signs all over the beach. An Austrialian mother and daughter entered the surf and immediately got caught in the undertow and a lifeguard had to put his life in danger rescuing them.
 
On a more sorrowful note, a younger man on the East side of Oahu, climbed down the steep rocks so he could swim in the surging waters.....and died.  On the rocks along this same coastline a few years back, another young man stood over the Blowhole (water splashing from underneath the rocks ... more
