The Ozarks Hillbilly- Culture and Traditions

Published on Jan 28, 2014 This 1999 film takes a look at the history of the Ozarks and the stereotypes that the region has inspired over the years.
This course provides a multidisciplinary introduction to the study of the Ozarks region and its inhabitants, including Ozarks history and geography, regional folk culture and traditions, and current issues. Credit to Missouri University.
 
I've really enjoyed watching and learning about my heritage here in the Ozarks, since I have to admit-I have some deep hillbilly roots! If you're interested in learning about our unique culture and area, this film is very well put together. There is a sterotype of the Ozarks with our shows making fun of the Hillbilly, which I never quite agreed with. I'd recommend watching this to experience some interesting history and good Ozarks storytelling. Enjoy!
